The purpose of this study was to investigate job stress and burnout of special education teachers and explain correlation of between job stress and burnout. For this purpose the survey was implemented with 200 teachers randomly selected from special education schools. The subject was categorized and researched by five variables including gender, experience, schools, class, and type of teacher certification.
The survey questionnaire consists of 23 question selected from Kang Hak-gu(1996)'s thesis and MBI(Maslach Burnout Inventory) publish from Maslach and Jackson (1981). The collected data measured with Likert-5 point-scale were analyzed with t and F-test, and the coefficients of correlation of each item about job stress and burnout were calculated.
The conclusions of this study were as follows;
First, the stress were appeared highly in teachers in charge of children with developmental disabilities than those of teachers in charge of schools for sensory impairment, and showed stress highly in teachers who are in charge of higher grade children.
Second, the experience of stress burnout of special schools teachers were appeared highly in teachers in charge of children with sensory impairment than those of teachers in charge of schools for developmental disabilities.
