      The purpose of this study is to find out what are the present status and the need of parents about leisure programs after school for children with mental retardation.
      The subject of this study were employed 192 parents with children with mental retardation. Some of them have children who attend general schools and the others have children who attend special class which is in general school and special school. The age of parents divided 40(26), 40 45(86), 45 ~ ~ 50(62), more than 50(18).
      The conclusions drawn form the result and discussion were as follow:
      First, the perception of parents on leisure program of after school is a little differences. In case of general classroom and resource room, parents thought that leisure time is developing themselves, but in case of special school, they regarded leisure time as entertainment.
      In comparing with the severe of disability, the less sever children's parents prefer leisure program as self-conviction and self-esteem of its conception. They liked unexceptional friend as their fellow.
      Second, the present status on leisure program after school was include with their neighborhood. Most of the children use only a institution. In compare with parents age, parents of 40 50s thought that the quality of program is important, but parents of more than 50s thought that the cost is more important.
      Third, the need of parents on the condition of leisure program of afters school are as follow;
      They want more special education institution and general learning center which children can attend place at nearby their house. And most of people thought that is natural. Disability is not a speciality.
      The findings of this study demonstrated that leisure program after school is very important for children with mental retardation children in order to facilities their full inclusion in this society as a citizen. And many study need to be done for their quality of life in this community
