The purpose of this study was to improve the classes of high school low-related education through mock trial that is discussed as the alternative plan for classes, after examining general problems of existing elementary low-related education.
The hypotheses of the present study were as follow :
1. Mock trials leaning is probably more effective then lecture centered instruction for developing of legal knowledge in low-related education.
2. Mock trials leaning is probably more effective then lecture centered instruction for developing of legal functional in low-related education.
3. Mock trials leaning is probably more effective then lecture centered instruction for developing of legal value and attitude in low-related education.
The study was carried out on 140 male first grade students in high school, andong. 70 students from two classes were assigned to the experimental group and the other 70 students from two classes were to the comparative group.
This experiment was carried out for 6 classes, and to see the change of Legal Consciousness, pre-test and post-test were carried out. For the statistical analysis of the results, SPSS 10.0 program was used and T-test was applied for comparing two groups.
The summary of the verified results are as follows :
1. Significant differences of legal knowledge development in low-related education were found between the experimental group and the comparison group.
2. Significant differences of legal functional development in low-related education were found between the experimental group and the comparison group.
3. Significant differences of legal value and attitude development in low-related education were found between the experimental group and the comparison group.
In addition, after Mock trial learning, 70 students were evaluated learning.
The summary of the results were as follows :
1. In respect to learning interest and need, students participated in the class more positively than in the teacher-centered learning.
2. In respect to understanding of legal problems and utilities of legal problem solving, most students reacted positively.
3. Because of interest, needs, participation and utilities of legal problem solving in mock trials, students reacted very positively.
The results of the experiment support the possibilities of mock trials learning for the development of legal consciousness in law-related education. also, alternative methods should be explored for the development of legal skill in respect to the protection of basic human right of students.
