      This study is to suggest the application possibility for preschool education and basic data for systematic guidance by examining the effect of appreciation class using picture music for musical recognition ability. On the ground of this necessity, the aim of the study is to verify the effect of musical recognition ability promotion of infants by suggesting appreciation class program using picture music and applying it to the spot in kindergarten. As for the research process, I conducted the base survey for the actual conditions of music education activity and the demand for music education activity in kindergarten targeting 67 kindergarten teachers as a subject of the survey. In order to inspect the promotion effect of musical recognition ability of appreciation class using picture music, I organized the babies under 5 years in A kindergarten located in Ulsan metro-politan city into experiment group and control group by 34 persons respectively. The experiment group took an appreciation class using picture music, and the control group took an appreciation class. The procedures of research are followed as preliminary test ->pretest ->experiment treatment ->post-test. I used measure instrument used in preceding research(Kim Gwang Ja, 2004) in this study. Moreover, I analyzed date using SPSS/PC for Windows 10.0 in order to verify the problems of the research. The conclusions in this study are as follows. A. Through the investigation for the actual state of music education in kindergarten, I found the general characteristic of teachers. Most of the teachers were the age of 25-30 years having education experience under 3 years graduated from a junior college. The area they emphasize most among music education activities in kindergarten was singing part. The musical instrument they play with well in teacher's music class directions was the piano mostly. The most difficult area they recognize in music activity was the creative class. The element they stress in appreciation was the interest of infants, and western classic in genre. The activity after appreciation was to express by body, the sound device they use in appreciation was CD. B. It was investigated and analysed that appreciation using picture music brought an improvement to musical recognition ability. Among musical recognition ability of infants in experiment group, the post-test scores of tone height, strength, rhythm showed the significant difference compared with scores in control group. Therefore, it was concluded that appreciation using picture music brought an improvement to musical recognition ability. Now, we know that appreciation using picture music affects musical recognition ability to be improved. Consequently, if we take advantage of appreciation class using picture music systematically, it will affect a positive influence on the musical recognition ability of infants.
