      It is clear that modern society is already become a knowledge based one. Competitiveness required of human resources in knowledge based society consists in an adaptability for change, a creative and flexible thinking, effective action for goals, self-development skills, and interpersonal relationship skills, which are the factors of key business competencies. The key business competencies are defined as the abilities that include the essential and common knowledge, skill, attitude, and experience, which are required of human resources in most jobs.
      The purpose of this study is to determine the business key competencies essential to the college students who want to become a high performer in their workplace.
      Research questions selected to verify the research hypothesis are as follows :
      What are the important key business competencies for the college graduated employees to perform their duties in the job ?
      What are the differentiating competencies between high performer group and average performer group ?
      What are the key business competencies that college students should develop beforehand ?
      This study was conducted through surveying to measure the importance and influence of each key business competency concerned with human performance in the job. The 10 scales used in this research were composed of achievement orientation, occupational morality, self management & development abilities, interpersonal relationship skills, communication skills, organizational awareness abilities, information skills, planning skills, problem solving skills, and business propriety.
      The results of this study are summarized as follows :
      First, the important key business competencies for high performance in the job are 'self management & development abilities > problem solving skills > interpersonal relationship skills > achievement orientation'. However, when the job field is concerned, the precedence of the importance should be rearranged as follows.
      According to the official & managemental job field, the precedence of the importance is 'interpersonal relationship skills > self management & development abilities > problem solving skills > achievement orientation'.
      According to the sales & service job field, it changed as 'self management & development abilities > communication skills > problem solving skills > achievement orientation'.
      According to the technical & special job field, it changed as 'self management & development abilities > problem solving skills > interpersonal relationship skills > achievement orientation'.
      Second, as far as the job field is concerned, the differentiating competencies between high performer group and average performer group are rearranged as follows.
      The precedence of the differentiating competencies in the official & managemental job field is 'achievement orientation > planning skills > organizational awareness abilities > business propriety > communication skills'.
      In the sales & service job field, it appeared as 'organizational awareness abilities > communication skills > information skills > problem solving skills > business propriety'.
      In the technical & special job field, it appeared as 'problem solving skills > planning skills > self management & development abilities > information skills > communication skills'.
      Third, according to the job field in which college students want to work, the key business competencies which they should develop are rearranged as follows.
      It is necessary to develop all of 10 key business competencies for the college students who want to work in an enterprise. Because they are essential, common, and basic competencies required of effective performers.
      The college students who want to work in the official & managemental field need to improve 'achievement orientation, communication skills, organizational awareness abilities, planning skills, and business propriety' more highly.
      The students who want to work in the sales & service field should develop 'communication skills, organizational awareness abilities, information skills, problem solving skills, and business propriety' more highly.
      The students who want to work in the technical & special job field should develop 'self management & development abilities, communication skills, information skills, planning skills, problem solving skills' more highly.
      Because these factors are deeply connected with excellent performance in the job.
      I hope that the result of this study will be useful for developing key business competencies of colleges, students, and enterprises.
