Now is an unprecedented time of mass and media. According to J. Baudrillard, this is 'an era in the raptures of communication' and M. Mauss and P. Broudiew, 'an era of mass ignorance' that even private worlds of a minority are evaluated by being broadcasted on television.
By the time the abstractionism and the informel emerged in the US and Europe after the World War Ⅱ, followed by the development of minimalism and conceptual art, as they tie themselves up in the limitation of high-class art, a group of artists began to make our mundane materials as the subject of their works, showing strong rejection against the originality of artists and the uniqueness of their works.
Andy Warhol's works that describe hundreds of cans of Campbell soup as if they are reproduced, certain pieces of works that borrow Lichtenstein's cartoon-like images and Hanson's works of human bodies in real size invaded the field of high-class art under the name of pop art.
This brand new trend of art was the isolation from former arts that limited themselves within the framework of high-class culture and the outcome of efforts that tried to reconnect boundaries of the life and the art that were separated.
Since the term pop art was coined in 1956 by British critic Lawrence Alloway, such efforts have had influences till these days not as a movement but an attempt and an attitude that dream about the reunion of the life and the art.
Pop art has been the target of criticism because of the commercialism that is linked with a slice of capitalistic society and argument because of the giving up of it's autonomy and the recurrence to the daily in the viewpoint of pure, idealistic art.
I'd like to analyze the pop art and the influence it has to modern artists as a meaning of combination with the art at this time that has a code of consumable and cultural characteristic, expendables of politics and economies.
