The government has made much efforts to expand educare centers since the enactment of the infant and early childhood care law in 1991. In that case a question can be posed how much such quantitative expansion has satisfied parents using educare centers. So the purpose of this study is to provide basic data on parents' satisfaction with educare service and to help improve educare service. For that purpose this study surveyed 486 parents using public or private educare centers.
The result of this study is as follows:
1. Parents' satisfaction with educare service of educare centers scored 3.9907 per 5 which is the same score as 79 per 100. That score means that on the whole parents are satisfied with educare service.
2. Parents' satisfaction with educare service can be analysed as follows according to parental educations, jobs, and average monthly income.
First, there is no significant difference(F=2.238, p=.083) in parents' satisfaction according to parental education levels but generally parents who have education background under the high school are more satisfied with educare service than others.
Second, there is significant difference(t=2.227, p=.026) in parents' satisfaction according to parental jobs. The satisfaction of parents who have jobs is higher than others who have no jobs.
Third, there is significant difference(F=5.706, P=.004) in parents' satisfaction according to average monthly income. Higher income, higher parents' satisfaction with educare service.
3. There is significant difference(t=5.784, p=.000) in parents' satisfaction according to the types of educare centers.
Based on the result of parents' satisfaction with educare service, I make a few suggestions as follows:
First, parents is the users of educare centers. It means that parents have the right to know the information about educare centers. That is to say, the information network has to be set where parents can get the information about the physical environment of educare centers, the rate of teachers to children, the use of local community resources, educare cost, health, nutrition, safety and so on.
Second, it is necessary to make an effort to expand the numbers of teachers and national finance support for the equal chance of good educare service.
Third, the nurture of infants and children is not a family or a local community problem but a national problem. Because the nurture of infants and children is directly connected with the future of our nation. Therefore it is necessary to strengthen the legal measures about the physical environment of educare centers.
Finally, based on this study, I make a suggestion for following research. To get more specific information about parents' satisfaction, it is also necessary to investigate parents' knowledge level about the actual condition of educare service.
