노인 일자리 사업 참여 만족도 조사 연구 = (A) study on elderly people's satisfaction with elderly employment promotion project

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine how much elderly people were satisfied with the elderly employment promotion project. The subjects in this study were 490 elderly people who were in their 60s and up and assisted by the elderly employment promotion project, and there are some suggestions about how to give a boost to that project:
First, in which way elderly people could be helped to find a job to earn a real income should carefully be studied. The elderly employment promotion project was jointly led by the government, elderly manpower management centers and relevant private organizations as one of the major elderly welfare projects to be ready for possible problems with aged society, into which the nation is rapidly moving, by creating jobs suitable for senior citizens over 65. That project also aimed at improving their health and finance and stirring up their social participation, but there is a long way to go since it's just been started. 59.8 percent of the elderly people investigated worked for financial reason, but they didn't have a sufficient income. It's needed to take actions to handle this matter.
Second, the types of jobs that could enable them to work and enjoy their free time at the same time should be prepared. What mattered for the elderly people was being given both chances to work and enhance their leisure lives. They should be helped to have a good income and take advantage of their free time.
Third, one of future tasks to be addressed was delving into how each local community could create jobs for the elderly. Although elderly people and local communities felt the growing needs for jobs, it's not yet quite possible to satisfy their needs.
Existing institutes that assisted elderly people to get a job reported they had a lot of difficulties, because there weren't many jobs available for the elderly especially in the provinces, and another reason was that whether or not the heads of local autonomous units were interested in this issue was one of the major factors to affect this issue. To boost the elderly's employment in local community, the private and public sectors should join forces, and relevant institutes should be given substantial support. And how the elderly employment promotion project could be on the right track in a way to cater to the local characteristics of the city of Daejeon should urgently be considered.
