전국 대학신입생의 대학생활 기대 및 정신건강 = College Freshmen`s Expectations about College Life and Their Mental Health Status

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined college freshmen`s choice of college and college major, their expectations about college life, and their mental health status. We analysed 59 college freshman survey results and the data collected from 14,776 college freshmen at 13 universities. Results suggested that in choosing a college they considered the most whether they could enter the college, whereas in choosing a college major they considered their aptitude most. As for college life, they were most concerned about academic success and career-related issues. Over 85% of the freshmen reported having experienced negative emotions within the last three months, 3.4% having had suicidal thoughts. Strategies for facilitating adjustment to college and issues of career guidance and counseling for high school students are discussed.
