창의적 은유 생성과정의 교수설계 적용 가능성 탐색 = Creative metaphor generation process: application to instructional design

During the stage of front-end analysis, generally the problems and the needs of instructional design process are identified and analyzed. In this stage, creative competence plays a critical role. Generally, metaphor is known as a skill of creative thinking and a critical factor of communication based on advanced research. The use of metaphor can contribute to understanding the problem nature and improving the communication among instructional design participants. This research analyzes the process of generating metaphor and thus develops a framework on metaphor generation process. From prior metaphor literature, the critical factors of metaphor generation process were identified and a research model and hypotheses were developed. The research model guided the in-depth interviews with four verbal creativity experts, poets. The finding shows that poets who have more than 10 years of experiences tend to have the following process of creating poems: preparation, incubation, insight, evaluation, and elaboration although they shows somewhat differences in necessary conditions and detail process. The finding suggests that the metaphor generation of poets is a creativity process. The prior research has been discussed metaphor generation process from the deductive perspective. However, interestingly, our finding indicates that poets use both deductive and inductive methods in the metaphor generation process. Also, poets have creativity-relevant skills of the metaphor generation and their internal motive guides the process of metaphor generation. The study finds that the characteristics in the creative metaphor generation model of poets can be a useful method to investigate problems and to communicate among participants during the front-end analysis of instructional design process.
