보육교사의 도덕성과 윤리 실천 수준의 관계 연구 = The Relationship between Moral Reasoning and Ethical Practice of Teachers in Childcare Centers

The goal of this study is to investigate pre-school teachers' level of moral reasoning and its relationship with their ethical practice in their works: childcare centers in Korea. We surveyed 481 teachers who work in public and private childcare centers all over the country. The instruments of this research are the Defining Issues Test(DIT) developed by Rest. L. and the instrument of the degree of ethical practice developed by the authors. The major findings of this study are as follows:1. The mean of the moral reasoning test(DIT) of the teachers inchildcare centers was 39 points, which means they are in the similar to or a little bit higher level than regular school teachers.
2. The mean of the scores on the ethical practice test was 3.97 in the 5 point scale. The teachers' score of ethical practice in the area of 'ethics toward the society' was relatively low.
3. The correlation analysis reported that there was positive relationship between moral reasoning and ethical practice of pre-school teachers. In conclusion, we can say that teachers who have high ability in moral reasoning could do high performance in ethical practice related to their work.
Additionally, this study suggested to develop educational programs for pre-service teachers' moral reasoning that could influence on their ethical practice in the works.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 보육교사의 도덕성 수준과 윤리 실천 수준의 관계를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 보육교사 481명이었으며, 연구도구로는 보육교사 ‘윤리 실천 수준 조사’와 도덕성발달 수준 검사인 DIT(Defining Issues Test)를 활용하였다. 윤리 실천 수준은 영유아에 대한 윤리, 영유아 가정에 대한 윤리, 동료 및 기관에 대한 윤리, 사회에 대한 윤리의 네 가지 영역에 대한 자기보고식 점수로 나타나고, 도덕성은 콜버그의 인습이후 도덕판단수준을 보여주는 DIT P(%)점수를 근거로 측정하였다. 연구 결과를 보면, 첫째, DIT 분석 결과 보육교사의 도덕성 점수 평균은 38.7점으로, 일반 학교 교사의 점수보다 비교적 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 보육교사의 윤리실천수준은 5점 척도에서 평균 3.97점(SD=.39)으로, 영유아, 영유아 가정, 동료 및 기관에 대한 윤리 실천 수준은 평균 이상의 점수를 나타냈으나, 사회에 대한 윤리는 평균보다 점수가 낮았다. 셋째, 보육교사의 도덕성과 윤리실천수준에 대한 상관 분석 결과, 전체적인 윤리 실천 점수와 도덕성 수준 사이에 유의미한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
