성, 음주정도에 따른 대학생의 음주문제 이해 = Understanding College Students' Drinking Problem by Sex and Drinking Levels

This study is to understand college students' drinking problem in depth. I first grasp college students' actual drinking status then divide surveyed students into groups by sex(male or female) and drinking levels(normal, binge drinking, heavy binge drinking) to compare drinking related variables like personality, negative affect, coping motive, and influence of friends. Lastly, I analyze relative influences of these variables on each group's drinking problems. Four hundred and thirty one male and female undergraduates in Seoul and other local areas were the subject of this research. The questionnaires they received were designed to measure their drinking behavior, drinking problem, five types of personality, negative affect(anger, anxiety, depression), drinking motive, influence of friends on drinking. The research demonstrates following three conclusions. First, although there are higher amount and frequency of drinking among male students than female ones, both sexes experience same drinking problems. Second, upon sexes and drinking levels, students show different levels of personality, negative affect, coping motive, and influence of friends. Third, extraversion, coping motive, social motive, and influence of friends have significant effects on female college students whereas male students are influenced more from conscientiousness, enhancement motive, coping motive, social motive, and influence of friends for their drinking. In heavy binge drinking group, agreeableness, conformity motive, and influence of friends are significant effects. In normal drinking group, extraversion and openness are significant effects on drinking problem. Based on the results, I discuss implications and limitations of this study.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 대학생 음주문제를 보다 심층적으로 이해하기 위해 먼저 대학생들의 음주실태를 파악하고 다음으로 성(여자대학생, 남자대학생), 음주정도(정상음주집단, 폭음집단, 심각한 폭음집단)별로 집단을 나누어 성격특성, 부정적 정서, 음주동기와 친구영향 등 음주관련 변인에 집단별로 차이가 있는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 마지막으로 각 집단별로 음주관련 변인들이 음주문제에 미치는 상대적인 영향력을 비교하여 음주문제에 영향을 미치는 변인들의 차별적인 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울과 지방소재 4년제 대학에 재학 중인 남녀 대학생 431명이었고 설문지는 음주행동정도, 문제음주정도, 성격 5요인, 부정적 정서(분노, 불안, 소외), 음주동기, 친구영향 등을 측정하도록 구성하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 음주량과 음주빈도는 남자대학생이 여자대학생에 비해 높았으나 경험하는 음주문제에는 남녀대학생간에 차이가 없었다. 둘째, 성별, 음주정도별 집단 간에는 성격특성, 부정적 정서, 음주동기 및 친구영향에 차이가 있었다. 마지막으로 여자대학생의 음주문제는 외향성, 대처동기, 사교동기, 친구영향이 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었으며 남자대학생의 음주문제에는 성실성, 고양동기, 대처동기, 사교동기, 친구영향이 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 심각한 폭음집단에는 우호성, 동조동기와 친구영향이 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었으며 정상음주집단의 음주문제에는 외향성과 개방성만이 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였다.
