입학사정관제 공통지원서 구축을 위한 전형영역 표준화 방안 = Standardization of Evaluation Criteria for Common Application in The Admissions Office System

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 한국의 입학사정관제도에서 공통지원서 양식의 토대를 제공할 전형영역 표준화에 그 목적이 있다. 대학마다 인재상이 다르고 모집단위가 다른데 어떻게 공통양식을 만들 수 있겠느냐는 반대의견도 상당수 존재한다. 하지만 연구결과 각 대학에서 요구하는 전형요소가 표현의 방식은 달라도 대부분 일정한 범주에서 선택되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 자기소개서에서 동기(Motive), 활동(Activity), 계획(Plan), 환경(Environment), 자아(Identity)의 5대 전형영역이 나타나고, 추천서에서 학업영역, 인성영역(개인적 특성, 사회적 특성), 교육환경영역의 3대 전형영역이 나타나고 있었다. 즉 공통지원서에는 위의 영역의 질문으로 통일하고, 각 대학은 세부전형요소를 만들어 대학별 또는 모집단위별 고유의 인재상과 부합하는 지원자를 선발하도록 하는 것이 사정관제도 시행으로 말미암아 발생한 새로운 문제들-고교 현장의 입시업무 과중, 사교육의 입학사정관제 침투-을 해소할 것이다. 전형영역의 표준화는 공통지원서 설계에 있어서 그 바탕이 될 것이고 이는 입학사정관제도가 한국 내에 안정적으로 정착하는데 기여할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Admissions Office System, which was first introduced in Korea in 2007, presented a few problems although it had a very positive aspect of enabling evaluation of applying student as a whole person. Since universities have autonomy in selecting evaluation methods, they use various different criteria. They also ask students to submit personal statement, letter of recommendation and other documents within a short period of time set for special admissions. Applicants and high school teachers face a number of difficulties. At the same time, many problems seem to emerge including surging workloads for high school teachers, low reliability of personal statements and letters of recommendation which are usually prepared in a rush. Even worse is the ghostwriting of recommendation letters, which offset the very purpose of the Admissions Office System, which is to curb negative side effects of private education.
Against this backdrop, this study explored a method of making Common Application required by the Admissions Office System. This method will save considerable amount of social expenditures. The key issue in this regard is how to sufficient various questions and evaluation materials as a precondition that each university requires.
The study result shows that evaluation criteria can be standardized into 5 areas of Motive, Activity, Plan, Environment, Identity in self introduce and 3 areas of Scholastic Achievement, Human Nature, Educational Environment in recommendation. This paper is significant in that a method to standardize evaluation criteria is found as a preliminary work to make Common Application in the Admissions Office System.
