효명세자의 정재 창작과 사상적 배경 = A historical background study and jeongjae creative activity of Crown Prince Hyomyung

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the history of Korean traditional dance, and across the history of Korea in general, no one has more extensive influence upon diverse areas with powerful energy and personal endeavors, than Crown Prince Hyomyung in Joseon Dynasty. Starting from being a regent at the age of 19 to the end of his brief life at 22, he had made a great deal of achievements, in the political, academic and artistic fields, which is most incredible for the short period of his regency. This study explores deep into historical background that has led Prince Hyomyung to achieve remarkably great works in the field of court dance of Korea called jeongjae, as well as in the extensive Korean history, connecting it with political, social and educational environment in Joseon. The study mainly depends on literatures as for its features. With basic materials of《Annals of Chosun Dynasty》《Akhakgwebeom(Musical Theory Records)》《Chosun Jeongjae Mudo Holki(Dancing Process Records in Chosun)》 and other national records on Hyomyung, many studies and professional books on Hyomyung have been also used. Taking it into account that those records were made just for two years, his passion and genius for dancing based on Joseon-centered awareness seem to be highly marvellous and stunning. Crown Prince Hyomyung who ruled Joseon as a prince regent under the reign of King Sunjo made independent ritual modes for court performing arts, forming and completing original culture of the late Joseon. His endeavors included localization of Dangak jeongjae (court ritual modes), activation of Hyangak jeongjae (local ritual modes for performing arts), and active introduction of things Joseon considering its themes and contents. It does not remain to mean expansion in quantity, but truly reflects the underlying political ambition of Hyomyung who heartily wished for independence of Joseon Dynasty. The research into the relation between Hyomyung and Kim Chang-ha from a musical family gives more than it has revealed in this study.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국전통무용사, 더 넓게는 한국사에서 효명세자만큼 단기간의 시기에 엄청난 활동역량과 그 사적 산유물로 인해 역사적으로 막대한 영향을 창출해낸 인물은 단호하게 없다고 말할 수 있다. 19세에 수렴청정으로 시작하여 22세의 짧은 생애를 마감할 때까지 정치적으로, 학문적으로, 예술적으로 그 짧은 삶이 믿기지 않을 만큼 많은 것들을 이루어 놓고 간 인물이다. 본 연구는 폭넓은 한국사의 시점에서뿐만 아니라 한국무용사 정재 연구에 있어서 주옥같은 인물인 효명세자를 연구대상으로 삼아, 역사 이래 왕조 가운데 무용사적으로 실로 괄목할만한 많은 위업을 달성하게 된 그 사적 배경을 정치․사회, 교육환경, 효명세자의 업적 다시보기로 다각적으로 심도 있게 연구하였다. 연구의 특성상 문헌연구 중심으로 이루어졌다. 조선왕조실록과 악학궤범, 조선정재무도홀기 및 각 의궤에 나와 있는 효명세자와 관련된 자료를 기본사료로 이제까지 효명세자를 중점적으로 연구한 논문과 전문서적을 참고, 비교하였다. 2년여의 짧은 기간 내에 이루어졌다는 점에서 그의 존왕 의식과 조선 중화의식에서 비롯된 춤에 대한 열정과 천재적인 재능이 더욱 빛나는 것이다. 정조조를 이은 순조조에서 대리청정을 한 효명은 조선 후기 궁중무용에 있어서 단기간에 이제까지와는 다른 자주적인 정재양식을 만들고 춤에서 조선 고유문화의 특성을 형성하고 완성한 시기였다. 효명세자가 창작한 정재에서 발견되는 조선문화 자존의식은 당악정재를 향악화하고 향악정재를 활성화한 점, 그리고 주제와 내용에 있어서 조선적인 것을 적극적으로 도입한 것을 들 수 있다. 정재의 양적발전만을 의미하기보다는 그 저변에 굳건하게 숨어있는 자주의식의 조선을 꿈꾸는 효명의 정치적인 야망을 극명하게 발견할 수 있다. 또한 많은 연구에서 지목되었던 악사 집안 출신 김창하와 효명의 관계 연구는 다시금 돌이켜 볼 사항이 많은 연구라 하겠다.
