청소년기 스트레스가 학교적응에 미치는 영향에 대한 가족지지의 조절효과 -부모와의 관계를 중심으로- = The Effects of Stress on Adaptation to School of Adolescents: The Moderating Effects of Family Support

This study examined the effect of family support as a moderator on school adaptation when adolescents experience high levels of stress. Specifically, it investigated the relationship between the moderating variables, 'parent attachment' and 'parent monitoring', and the impact of stress on adolescents' school adaptation.The study was carried out using the Korea Youth Panel Survey, the national longitudinal study conducted by National Youth Policy Institute.
It was found that a strong attachment relationship between the adolescents and their parents worked to buffer the negative impact of stress on their school adaptation. On the other hand, higher parent monitoring was found to intensify the impact. Overall, these findings suggest that a strong parent attachment relationship was associated with students' higher adaptability to school stress, while excessive parent monitoring, often leading to overprotection, was associated with lower adaptability to stressful situations. These results offer useful information for prevention and intervention programs for at-risk adolescents and their family members. The implications of the study and related research topics were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년들이 겪는 스트레스가 학교적응에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 수많은 기제 중 가족지지의 조절효과(moderator effect)를 확인하고자 하였다. 특히 조절변인인 가족지지를 부모와의 관계를 중심으로 ‘부모와의 애착’과 ‘부모의 지도감독’으로 나누고, 스트레스와 조절변인과의 상호작용으로 학교적응에 미치는 영향이 감소하거나 사라지는지 살펴보았다. 분석자료로는 전국규모의 종단조사자료인 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 ‘한국청소년 패널조사(KYPS)’ 자료를 이용하였다. 분석결과 부모와의 애착정도가 클수록 청소년의 스트레스가 학교적응에 미치는 영향을 완화, 완충하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 부모의 지도감독 수준이 높을수록 스트레스가 높은 상황에서는 학교적응에 미치는 부정적인 영향을 오히려 더 강화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 부모와의 애착관계가 잘 형성되어 부모와 의미있는 상호작용이 잘 이루어질수록 청소년들은 높은 스트레스 상황에서도 학교적응을 잘하는 반면, 부모의 지도감독이 지나친 과잉간섭으로 여겨질 경우 스트레스가 높은 상황에서는 학교적응을 더 어렵게 할 수 있음을 의미한다. 이러한 연구결과는 부적응 청소년과 가족을 위한 실천현장에서 효과적인 예방. 개입프로그램 개발에 유용한 정보가 될 수 있다고 여겨지며, 이를 통해 앞으로의 후속연구의 과제를 제시하였다.
