성전환여성(MTF)의 생애경험에 대한 생애사 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 성전환여성(MTF)들의 생애경험을 이해하는 것이다.이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해, 성전환여성 4명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하고 생애사 접근을 통해 분석하였다.구체적으로,개별 연구참여자들의 생애를 상세하게 기술하면서 각 사례의 생애 주제들을 발견하였고,다시 사례간 분석을 통해 나타난 이슈들을 주제분석의 형식으로 검토하였다.분석 결과,성전환여성들의 생애경험에서 나타난 주제들은 “나”아닌 ‘나’로 살아가기,벗어나기 위해 머물러 있기,이루어질 수 없는 사랑하기,멀찍이서 애타게 관계 맺기,트랜스젠더가 아닌 그냥 ‘사람’으로 살아가기,어두운 미래에서 별빛 찾기 등으로 나타났다.이러한 연구결과를 기반으로 성전환자의 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 사회복지실천과 후속연구에 대해 제언하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to understand the life experiences of MTF(males-to-females). For this study method, in-depth interviews were employed to four MTFs, and its results were analyzed based on the life history approach; that is the life themes of participant were found based on the full description of each participant’s life history and the issues that were revealed by cross-case analysis were reviewed through thematic analysis. The results revealed the themes of the lives of the study participants were presented as “living not as what I am, but as myself” “staying to leave” “to have a hopeless love” “longing to enter a relationship but at a distance” “living as a human being and not as a transgender” and “finding starlight in the dark future.” Based on these results, to improve the quality of life of MTFs, some suggestions for social welfare practice and further studies were made.
