미국 인종 및 민족 정체성 발달 이론으로부터 조망한 다문화가정 자녀의 생애 발달 이해 = Understanding Multicultural Children of Korea with the Life Long Perspective as Investigating on the Historical Development of American Multicultural Identity Theories

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to suggest that identity education and counselling for multicultural children of Korea is desirable to make the life long approach in the life long education center in connection with the local community as examine the historical development of multicultural identity theories in the United States. In this study, multicultural identity is defined as biracial and biethnic identity. Development of multiracial and multiethnic identity theories in the United States has been passed through four phases which include problem approach, human rights approach, unitive approach and ecological approach.
Based on the four approaches, the following suggestions are provided for multicultural children in the field of multicultural education and counselling. First. study on identity development for multicultural children should be proceeded from the divided perspective from monocultural children. Second, study on Identity development for multicultural children should be proceeded from the life long perspective. Third. study on identity development for multicultural population should be proceeded from the multidisciplinary approach. Forth, study on identity development for multicultural population should be proceeded from the multiple aspect included in self identity, social identification, self category in many contexts Considering these suggestions, Identity education for multicultural children seems to be desirable to accomplish not in school systems but in lifelong education centers in connection with the local community.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 다문화가정 자녀의 교육 및 상담 모형이 아직 미진한 상황에서 이들의 발달을 전 생애적인 관점에서 조망하여 평생교육의 차원으로 접근해야 할 필요성을 제기하는데 목적이 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 진행은 다문화가정 자녀의 정체성 발달 이론을 검토하기 위하여 우선 다문화적 상황의 배경을 인종 및 민족으로 한정하여 검토하여 다문화가정 자녀의 정체성을 규정하였다. 이후 미국에서 이루어진 이중 인종 및 민족 정체성 발달이론을 시기 별로 고찰하고 한국의 상황에 비추어 검토하여 다문화가정 자녀의 발달모형이 평생교육차원으로 이루어질 필요성을 제기하였다.
고찰한 결과 한국 다문화가정 자녀의 정체성 발달 연구에서 다음의 기본 방향을 찾을 수 있다. 우선, 다문화가정 자녀들을 대상으로 하는 정체성 발달 이론은 한국의 일반학생들에게 적용시키는 이론과는 분리해서 독자적인 발달 이론 체계를 만들 필요가 있다. 둘째, 다문화가정 자녀들의 정체성 발달 이론은 전 생애적인 관점에서 접근해야 할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 다문화가정 정체성 발달에 대한 연구는 다 학문적으로 접근해야 한다. 넷째 다문화가정 자녀의 정체성에 대한 이해는 자기규정, 사회적인 규정, 그리고 맥락적인 상황에서 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 점을 통해 볼 때 다문화가정 자녀가 건강한 시민으로 정착하기 위해서 이들의 정체성 교육 및 상담은 학교가 아닌 평생교육기관과의 연계 속에서 이루어짐이 바람직 할 것이다.
