탈북여성 결혼의 젠더구조와 문화적응 고찰: 정체성,경제,건강수준을 중심으로 = A Study on the Marriage and Family Relationships of Female North Korean Defectors from a Feminist Perspective: With a Focus on Changes to Individual Levels of Acculturation in a Migration Process

A majority of North Korean defectors entering South Korea are women in their twenties or thirties, which raises a need to examine the marriage and family composition of female North Korean defectors as an important task to address in the settlement process of North Korean defectors in South Korea. It should be addressed what kind of changes female North Korean defectors were going through in marriage and gender structure. The marriage they experienced while moving from North Korea to South Korea and the marriage women experienced in South Korea as part of gender structure changes work as structural environments to exclude female North Korean defectors in South Korean society. Considering that family can be an even more important base group to North Korean defectors in South Korea where they have not formed a social network or belong to a poor one, marriage and family building should be dealt with as major tasks regarding North Korean defectors. This study set out to examine the meanings of marriage among female North Korean defectors and analyze their current state from a feminist perspective. The study took interest in the influences of marriage and family composition on women by taking a gender-sensitive perspective to the marriage process and life.
