여성결혼이민자의 평생교육경험 및 사회적 자본의 유형과 적응의 관계 = Relationships among lifelong education, types of social capital, and adjustments of female marriage immigrants

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 ‘2009 전국다문화가족 실태조사’ 원자료를 사용하여 여성결혼이민자의 평생교육참여경험과 사회적 자본이 이들의 적응에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과 여성결혼 이민자의 평생교육경험은 적응에 유의미한 직접적 영향을 미치며, 사회적 자본의 형성을 통해 간접적으로도 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 네트워크 참여 및 네트워크 보유는 평생교육참여 경험과 적응 간의 관계를 유의미하게 매개하며, 이 매개효과는 사회적 자본의 유형에 따라 상이하게 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 평생교육참여 경험이 네트워크 참여를 통해 적응에 미치는 영향은 정적인 것으로 나타났다. 평생교육참여 경험이 모국인 친구 네트워크 보유에는 정적인 영향을 미치나 한국인 친구 네트워크 보유에는 부적 영향을 미치며, 모국인 친구 네트워크는 적응에 부적 영향을, 한국인 친구 네트워크는 적응에 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 평생교육참여 경험이 형성하는 네트워크는 모국인 친구 네트워크인 반면 적응에 정적 영향을 주는 네트워크는 한국인 친구 네트워크라는 결과에 주목할 필요가 있다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통하여 여성결혼이민자의 평생교육 프로그램은 모국인 친구 네트워크뿐만 아니라 적응에 도움을 줄 수 있는 한국인 친구 네트워크를 확장시키는 데 기여할 수 있도록 설계될 필요가 있다는 시사점을 얻을 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the impacts of the lifelong education and social capital of female marriage immigrants on their adjustment, and the mediating effect of social capital on the relationship between their lifelong education and adjustment. The data of the 2009 National Multicultural Family Survey jointly conducted by the Ministry of Health & Welfare, the Ministry of Gender Equality & Family and the Ministry of Justice were utilized. The data of 63,048 female marriage immigrants were analyzed. The study shows that lifelong education participation had a small, but statistically significant positive effect on the adjustment of female marriage immigrants and it had significant indirect effects on their adjustment by way of social capital variables. Their social capital variables, network participation and the presence or absence of networks, had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between lifelong education and adjustment, and social capital produced a different mediating effect depending on the type of it. The lifelong education participation of female marriage immigrants was found to allow them to build networks with friends from their native countries, but it appeared to be networks with Korean friends that had a positive impact on their adjustment. It implies that lifelong education programs geared toward female marriage immigrants should be designed to help them to build networks with not only friends from their native countries but Korean friends who can be beneficial to their adjustment.
