영남대학교박물관 소장 〈도성도〉 복원모사 연구 = Analysis and Reproduction of Doseongdo of the Yeungnam University Museum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to study the production technique of the old map by producing a reproduction through investigation and analysis for “Doseongdo” of the Yeungnam University Museum. A scientific investigation was conducted and the base material and the pigment were analyzed. Next, similarities with the expression of the 18th century Doseongdo were found in pictorial expressions and iconography, and in place names and some expressions, the 19th century Doseongdo and commonality were found. In addition, in the areas of Seonggyungwan and Changgyeonggung Palace, only the characteristic iconography of “Doseongdo” could be found. The original production technique was studied based on the results of the investigation and analysis.
Through the experiment, conditions for treating the base material suitable were derived. Damaged portions ware digitally restored based on the analysis of place names. Along with, based on the damaged portion, the prototype of the folding packaging type was estimated. Accordingly, it was possible to reconfirm the value of “Doseongdo” of the Yeungnam University Museum, and propose a method of producing an old map reproduction that combines scientific investigation, pictorial analysis, and humanistic consideration.
