대학생의 진로역량개발에 대한 대학 특성 요인의 영향 분석: 층위 간 상호작용효과를 중심으로 = Investigating Differential Influences of Institutional Features on Career Competency Development of College Students: A Multilevel Approach

Students look forward to take a better job and career goals through college education. Until recently, however, only one of the two recent college graduates is to succeed in employment. The Korean government has supported institutions of higher education in a variety of ways to deal with such an unexpectedly low employment rate, but the rate remains unchanged over time. Despite the consistent overall rate, the substantial differences in employment rates by gender, academic major, and institution exist.
Using the national data of 5,503 junior and senior students at 51 four-year universities, this study investigates the collegiate influences on students’ career competency development. The modified Social Cognitive Career Theory guided this study and Hierarchical Linear Modeling was used as a primary analytical method. The study found that the extent to which students develop their career competency through college education was varied across four-year universities with regard to their satisfaction for career support services and institutional selectivity. Further, there are the interaction effects between institutional features and student-level variables. Based on the findings of this study, we suggested a differential strategy by institutional type as a more effective approach to enhance career competency of their students.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

학생들은 대학교육을 통해서 더 나은 일자리와 진로를 기대하지만, 최근까지 대학졸업생 두 명 가운데 한 명 정도만이 취업에 성공하고 있다. 정부도 다양한 방안을 마련하여 대학을 지원하고 있으나, 가시적인 성과가 나타나지 않고 있다. 최근 몇 년간 전체적으로는 4년제 대학의 취업률에 큰 변화가 없지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 성별, 전공 간 및 대학 간 차이는 다소 크게 나타나고 있으며, 특히 대학 간 차이는 상대적으로 큰 편이다. 이와 같은 대학별 취업성과의 차이에도 불구하고 이러한 차이에 영향을 주는 요인에 대한 연구는 거의 수행되지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구는 전국 4년제 51개 대학 5,503명의 3, 4학년 대학생들을 대상으로 조사한 자료와 사회인지진로이론(SCCT)을 기초로 수정된 연구모형을 활용해서 위계적선형모형(HLM)을 통해 대학의 특성이 학생의 진로역량개발에 어떤 영향을 주는지 분석하였다. 연구결과, 대학의 진로지원에 대한 만족도와 입학난이도에 따라 학생들의 평균 진로역량 개발정도가 다르며, 대학 특성 변수와 학생수준 변수 간에 층위 간 상호작용효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 대학 특성을 고려한 학교 유형별 진로역량 개발 전략을 논의하였다.
