제주도 해양관광개발에 대한 영향인식과 지지도 관계분석 - 편익과 비용차원 관점 적용 - = A Study on Relationship between Impact and Support on Marine Tourism Development: An Application of Benefit and Cost

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated residents' perceptions on the marine tourism impacts on a town of Jeju(Kimnyeong) and its relationship with the residents' public support from the cost-benefit perspective. The social exchange theory was used to analyze the positive and negative aspects of DoBC(difference of benefit and cost). Data were collected from 198 residents of the town on September 2010. The main results of the study were as follows; First, the more the difference between benefits and costs were perceived, the better the respondents were likely to support of tourism development. Second, residents' positive attitudes for the benefits were positively related to their support for the marine tourism development, while their attitude for the costs were negatively associated with their support for the tourism development. Findings from this study suggest an integrated promotion of cost and benefits of marine tourism development impact for inducing residents' support for the tourism development.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 제주특별자치도 김녕 지역 해양관광개발에 대해 지역주민이 생각하는 전반적인(overall) 편익(benefit)과 비용(cost)의 차이가 지지도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 연구하였다. 관광개발의 영향에 대해 사회교환이론(social exchange theory)을 적용하여 편익과 비용의 차이 변수인 ‘DoBC’(Difference of Benefit and Cost) 변수를 생성하여 지지도와의 영향 관계를 제안, 검증하였으며, DoBC 변수 생성을 위해 측정모형의 타당성과 신뢰성을 검증하였다. 분석결과 ‘DoBC → 지지도’의 관계에서 편익과 비용의 차이가 클수록 지지도가 증가하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 관계를 보완 설명하기 위해 편익과 비용차원 각각이 지지도에 미치는 영향을 검증한 결과 편익과 지지도는 정(+)의 관계, 비용과 지지도는 부(-)의 관계로 분석되어, 해양관광개발 시 편익이 높다고 인식할수록, 비용이 낮다고 인식할수록 지역주민의 지지도는 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 기존에 관광개발의 영향이 지지도에 미치는 영향관계를 더욱 명확하게 제시하고, 편익과 비용 변수 각각이 지지도에 미치는 영향보다 이들 변수들의 차이 변수인 ‘DoBC’에 의해 지지도가 더 강화됨을 시사한다.
