      The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on turnover intention and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) of hotel employees. This study also examined the moderating effect of leader-member exchange (LMX) in the relationship between emotional intelligence and turnover intention and OCB. The model was tested using SPSS 12.0 based on a sample of 758 surveys which showed a 94.8% usable response rate. Factor analysis revealed a four-dimensional factor structure (understanding, control, application, empathic) for emotional intelligence, and a three-dimensional factor structure (participant, altruism & conscientious, sportsmanship) for OCB, and only one dimensional factor structure for LMX and turnover intention respectively.
      The results of empirical analysis showed as follows. Three factors except for empathic of emotional intelligence have significant effect on LMX. All the four factors of emotional intelligence have significant effect on participant and altruism & conscientious of OCB. On the contrary understanding of emotional intelligence has significant effect on sportsmanship of OCB(+) and turnover intention(-). Hierarchical regression analyses were adopted to test the moderating effect of LMX between emotional intelligence and turnover intention. The influences of emotional intelligence on OCB appeared to be moderated by LMX. And implications of these results are examined.
