수석교사의 학교 내 역할 갈등과 정체성 형성에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Role Conflict and the Identity Formation of the Master Teachers in the Schools

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study attempts to examine the role conflict and the identity formation of master teachers in the schools. In-depth interviews were employed as a tool to collect qualitative data from the five master teachers. The results are summarized as follows. Master teachers expect they have the role of supporting teachers and the status like the administrative position. But the unique school culture and the conflicts between the master teachers and the school managers are the burdens to the master teachers`` role performing and status acquisition. In the face of the difficulties they use active strategies or passive strategies. The master teachers are not treated as top education specialist in their schools. They performed the class-related role or more roles in the status like the head of department. Sometimes they are asked to do as substitute teacher. Some master teachers carry out various informal activities depending on the degree of friendship. Master teachers refer to themselves as ``the lonely teaching department head``, ``subject specialist teacher having less class hours``, or ``invisible supporter doing job``.
