스포츠복지개념의 형성과정: 스포츠의 사회적 기능변화를 중심으로 = Formation of SportWelfare Concept: In Centred Change of Social Functions of Sport

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Based on Foucault’s discourse, this research attempts to analyze what the essential meaning of changes in social function of sport and the concept- formation of sportwelfare which has been defined in today’s Korean society. According to the results of the data analysis, this study found out the discourse on social functions of sport have been defined mainly into three dominant discourses. First, since the establishment of Third Republic, Park Jung-hee administration established powerful sport promotion policy and began to organize physical training more systematically under the slogan, "Physical strength is national power," and since then, the discourse that physical strength is national power has been socially formed. Second, Yushin regime, the symbol of dictatorial rule, collapsed in early 1980, and Fifth Republic was established, and as big world championship events such as the 1986 Seoul Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games were held safely, the discourse of social integration has been formed. Third, rapid and continuous progress in industrialization has been made in our society. So the discourse background in which the concept of sportwelfare has been formed is analyzed as the product of social efforts to improve the quality of life that the people pursue today. According to the analyzed discourse of sportwelfare, sportwelfare can be defined as welfare activities to encourage and foster active and daily sport so that not only the socially weak and vulnerable people but also the general people can lead healthy and happy lives through sport.
