청소년의 사회적 배제와 개인, 가정, 사회 환경과의 관계 = The relationship of personal, family and social environments to social exclusion among youth

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to find out the state of social exclusion and to examine how their status of social exclusion was linked to the personal, familial and social environmental factors. The data for the study were the fifth wave of Korean Youth Panel Survey and limited to the eighth grade students. We found that the youth were mostly socially excluded. They lacked in social participation such as volunteering or club activities. External factors affecting youth social exclusion were the less educated mother, single-parent, the attendance at vocational high school, the lower class participation, less confident in themselves and also low attachment to friends and the community. Among the family environments, the attachment to parents had no impact when it was controlled with other environment factors. It showed the developmental characteristics of the youth, which were the shift of the influence from parents to friends and school. The findings suggest the right direction of institutional support geared toward lessening the youth social exclusion.
