디지털 인문학과 고문헌 자료 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

디지털 인문학(Digital Humanities)이란 디지털로 표현하고 디지털로 소통 하는 이 시대에 인문지식이 더욱 의미 있게 탐구되고 가치 있게 활용되도록 하려 는 노력이다. 디지털 인문학은 연구 방법의 혁신을 통해 인문학 본연의 학술 연구 에 기여하는 것을 일차적인 과제로 삼는다. 그러나 전통적인 인문학이 문학, 사학, 철학 등 분과 학문의 전문적인 연구만을 가리키는 것이 아니고, 인문적인 교양 교 육과 인문지식의 사회적 응용에도 관심을 갖듯이, 디지털 인문학도 디지털 원어민 인 오늘날의 학생들에게 인문 지식을 교육하는 일, 그리고 인문지식을 대중들을 위한 문화콘텐츠로 활용하는 일도 과제로 삼는다. 필자는 이 글을 통해 디지털 인문학이 추구하는 과제를 연구, 교육, 응용의 세 가지 측면에서 살펴보았다. 그리고, 고문헌 자료를 대상으로 하는 디지털 인문학 연구의 방법을 보이기 위해 한국학중앙연구원의 문중 고문서 아카이브 구축 연구 를 사례를 소개하고, 이러한 방법을 대학의 인문학 교육과 문화콘텐츠 개발에 활 용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Digital humanities is an effort to facilitate the pursuit and application of humanities knowledge in the era of digital expression and communication. To contribute to the scholarly research by revolutionizing the research methods is one of Digital Humanities' primary goals. But beyond it, Digital Humanities is also concerened with the humanities education for the next generation who are digital natives; as well as the application of humanities knowledge in creative industry for a wider audience. This is by the same token that the traditional humanities does not limit itself to the speicalized research in disciplines such as literature, philosophy, and history, but involves itself also in the humanities education and the social application of humanities knowledge. In this paper, I specified the goal of digital humanities into three subfields, namely research, education, and application. Then, I introduced the Historical Family Document Archives Project by the Academy of Korean Studies, as a case that illustrates how digital humanities is used in the research of historical documents. Finally, I explained how such approach may further be used in the humanities education in college, as well as the development of culture content for a wider audience.
