0-3세 영유아 영상매체 시청 및 부모의 영유아 자녀 영상매체 시청 지도 행동 실태 조사 = Investigation into current media use by young children aged three and under and their parents` guidance of that use

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

To provide a database for understanding and mediating the influence of media use by young children, this study investigates the content of current media used by young children three years old and under and the guidance parents give to the children regarding that content. Researchers conducted a questionnaire survey with 826 prime caregivers of young children three years old and under in Korea. Compilation of the data reveals that 1)97% of the children watch or engage with media content and 2) about 33% of the children began doing so at under 11 months o age. 3) Parents allowed their children to use media primarily because doing so enabled the parents to do their work or housework or to enjoy free time while children were seeing the media. 4) Regarding guidance behavior, 73% of parents said that they limited watching time, but not always.
