초기수학능력 평가도구 TEMA의 국내 표준화를 위한 예비연구 = A study on the domestic standardization of the Test of Early Mathematics Ability

This aim of this study is three-fold: 1) to examine the adaptation of the Test of Early Mathematics Ability (TEMA) used in the United States, 2) to review TEMA`s validity and reliability and 3) to determine the fitness-for-service of it in Korea. Subjects were 450 preschoolers and children attending kindergartens and elementary schools in Korea. The results of this study are as follows. First, the overall validity of K-TEMA was analyzed and assessed. 1) Item difficulty and discrimination of K-TEMA were assessed to determine item adequacy. 2) An analysis of concurrent validity of K-TEMA was also performed. There is a positive and highly statistical significant correlation between subjects` scores with respect to the Basic Mathematical Ability Inventory, and quite a significant positive correlation to their scores on the Mathematical Ability Inventory as well. Second, the overall reliability of K-TEMA was analyzed and assessed. 1) The item internal consistency of K-TEMA ranged from .707 to .950, indicating approved reliability. 2) The equivalent-form reliability of K-TEMA type A and B and test-retest reliability produced favorable correlation coefficients. These findings indicate that the K-TEMA is suitable for use in Korea.
