유아의 연령과 놀이 영역에 따른 유아-보육교사 상호작용과 유아 언어 발달과의 관계에 관한 연구 = A study of the association between toddler/child care provider interactions and toddlers` language development

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigates the influence of toddler-child care provider interactions on toddlers` language development according to the age of the toddler and the play area in which the interactions occur. During free activity time in both the language area and in the building block area, interactions of about 20 minutes duration between 45 toddlers (23 two year olds and 22 three year olds) and their teachers were video recorded and coded using second-by second coding. Toddlers` language development was measured by the Korean version of the Child Developmental Inventory (Kim, & Shin, 2006). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, repeated MANOVAs, correlation analyses, and multiple regressions. The results reveal significant differences in toddler-child care provider interactive behaviors depending on toddlers` age and play areas. The associations between toddlers` and child care providers` interactive behaviors in the different play areas were different. Lastly, the regression results reveal that the interactive behaviors on the part of the toddlers` was more influential on their language understanding development than were the interactive behaviors of the teachers. However, with regard to the expression of the toddlers` language, the regression model revealed no significant influences.
