아동 청소년기 외상경험과 경계선 성격 특성의 관계: 대상적 자기 손상의 매개효과 = Childhood Trauma and Borderline Personality Trait in Nonclinical Young Adults: The Mediating Role of Impaired Objective Self

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine relations among childhood trauma, impaired objective self, and borderline personality trait in nonclinical young adults, using structural equation modeling(SEM). Based on previous studies the completed mediation model was proposed, in which impaired objective self fully mediates the relationship between childhood trauma and borderline personality trait. A total of 365 undergraduates completed the questionnaires consisting of Childhood Traumatic Questionnaire(CTQ), Traumatized Self-System Scale(TSSS), and Personality Assessment Inventory-Borderline Features Scale (PAI-BOR). As a result, SEM analyses confirmed the completed mediation model. These findings indicate as follows. First, childhood trauma is the major developmental antecedents of borderline personality trait. Second, childhood trauma has an effect on borderline personality trait only if childhood abuse and neglect leads to significant impairments of objective self, which is conceptualized as negative self, guilt, and shame. Implications and limitations of this study were discussed along with future research.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 아동 청소년기의 외상경험과 대상적 자기 손상, 경계선 성격특성 간의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 구체적으로 대상적 자기 손상이 아동 청소년기 외상경험과 경계선 성격특성 간의 관계를 완전매개 할 것으로 가정하고 구조방정식모형 분석을 통하여 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 강원도 소재 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생 365명의 자료를 분석하였으며 측정 도구로는 아동기 외상 질문지, 외상화된 자기체계 척도, 경계선 성격특성 척도를 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 아동 청소년기 외상경험은 대상적 자기 손상 및 경계선 성격특성과 정적 상관을 나타내었다. 또한 아동 청소년기 외상경험이 대상적 자기 손상을 거쳐 경계선 성격특성에 간접적으로 영향을 미칠 것이라는 완전매개 모형은 적합한 것으로 판명되었다. 이러한 결과는 다음과 같은 시사점을 제공한다. 첫째, 아동 청소년기의 학대와 방임은 경계선 성격특성의 발달에 주요한 원인이 된다. 둘째, 아동 청소년기의 학대와 방임은 부정적 자기, 죄책감, 수치심으로 개념화되는 대상적 자기영역에서의 손상을 초래한다. 셋째, 아동 청소년기의 외상경험으로 인해 대상적 자기 손상이 뚜렷한 경우에만 성인기의 경계선 성격문제로 이어질 수 있다. 마지막으로 연구의 의의와 제한점, 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.
