태권도원을 통한 무주지역 활성화 방안

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objective of this research is to seek invigoration measure for Muju and Jeonbuk area’s economic development with the opening of newly established Muju Taekwondowon and distribution of various cultural contents. Quantitative research based on survey is used and final research subject was 178 residents collected for convenient sampling. Conclusion and thesis deduced from research is as follows. First, Development of regional city infrastructure other than Taekwondo center is necessary. Inflow and accommodation of tourist by Taekwondo center has limitation and moreover, continuous development of tourism is not guaranteed if there isn’t any related tourism service. Therefore, new development of road, lodging facility and commercial zone is required and investment from outside Muju area must be accomplished to accelerate plan. Second, sustainable international event shall be planned and executed. Recently, international event with city’s own characteristic works as key factor for tempting tourist visit. Therefore, international event with distinctive characteristic of Muju which utilizes Taekwondowon needs to be planned. However, if this event is limited to contents only related to Taekwondo, regional development in a long run can be bothered so must be planned meticulously. Third, programs for local resident need to be expanded. The opening of Taekwondowon can arouse social/cultural alienation to community members so Muju’s public organization and Takewondo center operators shall plan business which can support economic, social and cultural activities of local residents. Based on our research result, we can propose that if comparative research is performed on regional economic development by public officials, local residents and Takewondo center personnel along with stable growth of center’s business, then continuous improvement to ensure effective management of the center and progress of city’s tourism business will be introduced. Thus, this effort will help Taekwondowon to become the most famous sports facility not only in Muju and Jeonbuk area but also can become representative sports center of Korea.
