초기 청소년기의 변화에 대한 부모-자녀의 인식에 관한 연구 : 청소년·부모 FGI를 중심으로 = Parental and Adolescent Perceptions of Transitions During Early Adolescence : With a Focus on the FGI of Adolescents and Parents

This study aimed to obtain basic data to find prevention methods of various problems which can occur in early adolescence and maladjustment problems in late adolescence by comparing perceptions of parents and adolescents about the characteristics of early adolescence. For this, 12 first- and second-year middle school students and 16 parents of children in early adolescence were interviewed in depth, and the interview content was transcribed and analysed. As a result, the data was organized into 4 subjects, which are "Aspects of Transition in Early Adolescence", "Anxieties and Conflicts Perceived by Parents and Adolescents in Early Adolescence", "Coping Methods for the Transition, Anxieties, and Conflicts in Early Adolescence" and "Supports that Parents and Adolescents Want", with 28 categories and 106 sub-categories. The adolescents and parents reported similar experiences and thoughts on the aspects of transition, anxiety, conflicts and coping methods, but the two groups also showed perception differences on where they put more importance and interests. In addition, it was showed that the adolescents wanted psychological support from their parents and the parents needed information of early adolescence, parenting methods, and parent education for healing their emotional difficulties. This study has significance in the sense that it conducted in-depth interview with parents and adolescents about the characteristics of early adolescence and perception on parent-child relationship, and it provided basic data to develop a parenting education program for parents with children in early adolescence.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 초기 청소년기의 청소년과 부모를 대상으로 이들이 경험하고 있는 초기 청소년기의 특성과 부모-자녀 관계에 대한 인식을 비교함으로써 초기 청소년기에 발생할 수 있는 다양한 문제와 후기 청소년기의 부적응 문제를 예방하기 위한 방안을 모색하는데 기초 자료를 얻는 것이다. 이를 위해 중학교 1, 2학년 남·여 학생 12명, 초기 청소년기 자녀를 둔 부모 16명을 대상으로 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 실시하였고, 인터뷰 내용은 참여자들의 동의를 얻어 녹음되었다. 연구자 4명은 인터뷰 내용을 전사하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, ‘초기 청소년기의 변화 양상’, ‘청소년·부모가 인식한 초기 청소년기 고민 및 갈등’, ‘초기 청소년기 변화양상 및 고민·갈등에 대한 부모의 반응 및 대처’, ‘초기 청소년기 고민·갈등에 대한 청소년의 대처 및 청소년이 생각하는 부모의 대처’, ’초기 청소년기 청소년이 부모로부터 원하는 지원‘, ’초기 청소년기 부모가 원하는 지원‘ 등 6개 주제, 28개 범주, 105개 하위범주로 정리되었다. 참여한 청소년과 부모들은 초기 청소년기의 변화 양상 및 이 시기의 고민과 갈등, 대처방법 등에서 유사한 내용을 보고하기도 하였으나 각각 중요하게 생각하거나 관심을 갖는 내용들에서는 인식의 차이를 보이기도 했다. 또한 청소년들은 부모로부터 심리적 지원을 원하며 부모들은 초기 청소년기에 대한 정보와 양육태도나 부모의 정서적 어려움을 치유 받는 교육을 필요로 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 최근 초점의 대상이 되고 있는 초기 청소년기의 특성과 부모-자녀 관계의 인식에 대해 심층 인터뷰를 실시하여 이를 분석하였으며, 이를 토대로 추후 초기 청소년기 자녀를 둔 부모를 대상으로 한 다양한 부모교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 기초 자료를 제공하였다는데 의의가 있다.
