성인의 생애주기별 주관적 행복감과 영향요인에 관한 연구: Alderfer의 ERG 이론 적용 = A Study on Subjective Well-Being and Influential Factors across Different Life Cycles in Adulthood: Application of Alderfer's ERG Theory

The purposes of this study were to identify different degree of subjective well-being across life cycles in adulthood and influential factors on subjective well-being based on Alderfer's ERG theory and to suggest implications of improving their subjective well-being. Data used in this study were from the 8th Korean General Social Survey (2010). The cases for this study were total 1,557individuals who consisted 660 young-aged adults under 40, 574 middle-aged adults under 60, and 323 old-aged adults over 60. The data were analyzed by hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that subjective well-being of the old-aged adult group was lower than the young and the middle aged adult groups. The economical satisfaction was a common predictor in all adult aged groups and the effects of existence needs, relatedness needs and growth needs factors on subjective well-being were different in each group. The most important predictors of subjective well-being were sense of hope in the young-aged group, economical satisfaction in the middle-aged group, and subjective health in the old-aged group. Based on these findings, practical and political implications for improving subjective well-being were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 Alderfer의 ERG이론을 근거로 하여 성인기의 생애주기별 각 집단이 경험하는 주관적 행복감과 차이정도를 파악하고, 주관적 행복감에 영향을 주는 요인들을 확인함으로써, 생애주기 특성에 따른 행복감 향상을 위한 함의를 찾는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 2010년에 실시된 제8차 한국종합사회조사(Korean General Social Survey) 데이터를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 분석대상은 청년기(18~39세) 660명, 중년기(40~59세) 574명, 노년기(60세 이상) 323명으로 총 1,557명이었으며, 연구방법은 위계적 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 성인기 생애주기별 주관적 행복감은 달랐으며, 노년기의 주관적 행복감이 청년기, 중년기와 비교해볼 때 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 각 생애주기별 주관적 행복감에 영향을 미치는 요인을 알아보기 위해, 생존욕구요인, 관계욕구요인, 성장욕구요인을 투입하여 살펴본 결과 생존욕구요인 중 경제적 만족도가 모든 생애주기에서 공통된 영향요인으로 나타났고, 그 외 영향요인들은 생애주기별로 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 생애주기별 주관적 행복감에 가장 영향력 있는 변수는 청년기는 ‘희망감’, 중년기는 ‘경제적 만족도’, 노년기는 ‘주관적 건강’으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 주관적 행복감 향상을 위한 실천적, 정책적 제안을 제시하였다.
