남성상담자의 감정억제와 공감, 내담자의 작업동맹과 상담만족 = The Relationship of Male Counselor's Restricted Emotionality, Empathic Ability, Client's Working Alliance and Satisfaction with Counseling

This study identified how restricted emotionality of the male counselors' could affect the process of counseling(counselor's empathic ability, client's working alliance) and results(counseling satisfaction). Counselor's empathy ability and counselee's working alliance were supposed as mediators of the relationship between restricted emotionality of the male counselors' and clients' counseling satisfaction. Seventy-five male counselors and 225 clients(three clients of each counselor) answered the study questionnaire. The results showed that, first, the relationship of restricted emotionality and empathy ability of male counselors' was significant, and the relationship of client's working alliance and counseling satisfaction was also significant. Second, multi-level structural equation modeling showed that empathy ability of male counselors was inversely correlated to their restricted emotionality, and diminished the clients' counseling satisfaction. The relationship between counselors' restricted emotionality and clients' satisfaction of counseling was fully mediated by counselor's empathy ability. Suggestions for future research, the limitation of this study, and the implications for counseling with male counselors were also discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 남성상담자가 내면화한 성역할 갈등 중 감정억제가 상담의 과정(상담자의 공감, 내담자의 작업동맹)과 성과(내담자의 상담만족)에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인하였다. 남성상담자의 감정억제를 독립변인으로, 상담자의 공감과 내담자의 작업동맹을 매개변인, 내담자의 상담만족을 종속변인으로 하고, 남성상담자 75명과 그들의 내담자 각 3명씩, 총 225명을 연구대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 결과는 첫째, 남성상담자의 감정억제와 공감의 관계는 부적상관이 있었고, 내담자의 작업동맹과 상담만족 또한 통계적으로 유의미한 정적상관이 있었다. 둘째, 다층구조방정식을 통한 연구모형 검증 결과 남성상담자의 낮은 감정억제는 공감을 증가시켰으며, 상담자의 높은 공감은 내담자의 상담만족을 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 남성상담자의 감정억제와 내담자의 상담만족의 관계를 상담자의 공감이 완전 매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구에 따른 제한점과 향후 연구에 대한 제안, 남성상담자에 대한 시사점이 논의 되었다.
