상담자의 특성, 역전이 관리 능력 및 상태불안의 관계 = (The) relationship of counselor's characteristics, countertransference management ability and state anxiety

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 상담자의 전문적 특성 및 개인적 특성과 역전이 반응을 관리하는데 있어서 중심역할을 한다고 이론화된 다섯 요인들(자기통찰, 자기통합, 공감능력, 불안관리, 개념화 기술)을 포함하는 역전이 관리 능력간의 관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 그리고 역전이 관리 능력 수준이 높은 상담자들과 낮은 상담자들간의 비효과적인 역전이의 정서적 반응인 상태불안에서 차이가 있는지를 밝힘으로써 상담자의 역전이 관리능력이 상담과정에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 마지막으로 역전이 관리 능력이 내담자가 지각한 상담자의 공감적 태도에 미치는 영향을 추가로 살펴보았다.
본 연구에서는 개인 상담을 실시하고 있는 전국21개의 대학 학생생활연구소와 서울 및 지방소재 15개의 일반 상담기관에서 상담자-내담자쌍으로부터 총 93쌍의 자료가 수집되었다. 자료수집기간은 1999년 3월22일부터 5월17일까지였으며, 내담자들과 한 회기의 상담이 끝난 직후, 상담자와 내담자가 각각 상담자용 질문지와 내담자용 질문지를 작성하였다. 본 연구에서는 일원변량분석(ANOVA)을 사용하여 결과를 분석하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 상담자의 학위가 높을수록, 상담관련 자격 수준이 높을수록, 개인상담경험과 상담자의 슈퍼비전 받은 경험 및 교육분석 받은 경험이 많을수록 상담자의 역전이 관리 능력 수준은 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 상담자가 보다 더 심리적으로 안정되어 있을 때 상담자의 역전이 관리 능력 수준은 더 높았다. 셋째, 상담자의 역전이 관리 능력수준이 높을수록 상담자들의 비효과적인 역전이의 정서반응인 상태불안은 더 낮았다. 마지막으로 상담자의 역전이 관리 능력 수준이 높고, 정서적으로 안정되어 있으며, 상담 중 상태불안을 적게 느낄수록 내담자들은 상담자가 더 공감적이라고 지각하였다.
상담자의 각 특성에 따른 역전이 관리 능력에서의 차이와 역전이 관리 능력에 따른 상담자의 비효과적인 반응인 상태불안에서의 차이에 대한 결과가 논의되었다.
끝으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점 및 앞으로의 연구방향 등이 논의되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between counselor's characteristics and five factors theorized to play a central role in managing countertransference reaction: Self-insight, Self-integration, Empathy Ability, Anxiety Management, Conceptualizing skills. This study examined the role of countertransference management ability in countertransference reaction, state anxiety. In addition to the two primary purposes above, the effects of counselor's countertransference management ability on counselor's empathic attitude perceived by client.
The counselor's professional characteristics included counselor's academic degree, the level of counseling certificate, the number of years of personal counseling experience, the number of supervision hours and the number of personal counseling(or personal analysis) hours. The counselor's personal characteristics included ego-strength, the sense of affective well-being(general affect), the sense of cognitive well-being(the degree of satisfaction with life). Countertransference reaction was assessed at affective level, state anxiety.
Ninety-three dyads of counselors and clients who currently in counseling contributed data in this study, Immediately after the counseling session, the counselors were asked to complete the Professional Characteristics Questionaire, the Countertransference Factors Inventory, the State Anxiety Inventory, Ego-strength scale, Index of General Affect and Satisfaction with Life Scale. The clients also completed the BLRI Empathy Scale. The data were analyzed by employing ANOVA.
The results of the study are as follows : Firstly, there was significant difference in the means of the countertransference management ability score by the counselor's academic degree, the level of counseling certificate, the number of years of personal counseling experience, the number of supervision hours and the personal counseling(personal analysis) hours. Secondly, there was significant difference in the means of the countertransference management ability score by the sense of cognitive well-being(the degree of satisfaction with life). But there was no significant difference in the means of the countertransference management ability score by ego-strength and the sense of affective well-being(general affect). Thirdly, there was significant difference in the means of the countertransference reaction score, state anxiety score by countertransference management ability level. Namely, greater counselor's countertransference management ability relates to less counselor's countertransference reaction, state anxiety. Lastly, the factors affecting on counselor's empathic attitude perceived by client were the sense of affective well-being, counselor's state anxiety and counselor's countertransference management ability.
Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and the suggestions for the future studies were discussed.
