Based on the current curriculum emphasizing the localization of curriculum, this study was introduced to the folk-tales of Jeju area which are worthy and introduced into the curriculum of the arts curriculum and reconstructed as a unit of expression activities. In addition, 12 classes were taught to 30 elementary school students in the province with the reconstructed contents. The contents of the lesson using Jeju folk -tales are ‘Expressing the story contents as picture books’, ‘Making traditional clothes and ornaments’, ‘Decorating Jeju traditional house environment’.
The educational effects expected from this study are as follows.
First, students have interest and interest in the folk-tales in Jeju and have a desire to love and preserve Jeju traditional culture.
Second, through the art class using familiar ‘story’ materials to students of ‘Jeju folk-tale’, students experience various artistic expressive activities to create an atmosphere where students can freely express their thoughts and feelings.
Third, students should be able to express basic materials, tools, expression methods, formative elements and principles by reconstructing them into expression activities appropriate to the third grade curriculum.
Fourth, by reorganizing the class so that students can cooperate with each other by expressing them in a cooperative manner, it is possible to raise individual sense of responsibility, to interact positively with friends, and to feel the value of cooperation.
