한국어 쓰기 교육을 위한 그림책 활용 방안 연구 = A Study on Utilizing Picture Books for Education on Writing in Korean Language

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 외국인 유학생 대상의 한국어 쓰기 교육을 위한 그림책 활용 방안을 마련하는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 최근 한국어 쓰기 교육 방안 시 활용되는 ‘그림책’에 초점을 맞추어 그림책과 한국어교육의 상관관계 및 그림책 활용의 효용성과 교육적 가치에 대해 고찰하였다. 또한 그림책에서 찾아볼 수 있는 언어지식들을 바탕으로 한국어 쓰기 교육을 위한 그림책 활용 방안을 제시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 명시적 습득에 관한 것이다. 그림책은 언어지식이 부족하더라도 글과 그림이 제시되어있고, 그림책의 독자층이 유아기부터 성인 모두를 아우르기 때문에 한국어를 학습하는 학습자들이 쉽게 받아들일 수 있다. 둘째, 암시적 습득에 관한 것이다. 한국어교육에 흥미를 요구하는 외국인 유학생들에게 그림책의 특성, 즉 그림책의 구성요소로서 다양한 그림들과 어휘 및 문장을 활용하여 이야기를 종합하고, 상상력을 발휘할 수 있어 풍부한 사고력을 향상시킬 수 있다. 궁극적으로 외국인 유학생들이 그림책 활용을 통해 한국어 학습, 쓰기 활동에 대한 부담을 덜고 흥미를 느낄 수 있다. 본 연구는 이상의 논의 결과를 통해 그림책이 한국어 쓰기 교육에 한 걸음 다가갈 수 있는 매체로써 발전 가능성과 적용의 적절성에 대한 의구심을 풀었다는 데에 의의가 있겠다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to prepare a plan to use picture books to help foreign students with learning how to write in Korean language. For this, the study has examined the correlation between picture books and Korean language education and the usefulness and educational value of using picture books with focus on the ‘picture books’ that are commonly used in Korean writing education. The study has also proposed how to use picture books for Korean writing education based on the knowledge of language found in picture books. The findings are as follows. First, it is about explicit acquisition. Picture books are relatively easily accepted by learners in all ages ranging from toddlers to adults regardless of their knowledge of Korean language thanks to the illustrations as well as texts in them. Second, it is about implicit acquisition. Foreign students who seek fun in learning the Korean language are expected to develop and deepen their thinking skills as they are able to coordinate stories using a variety of pictures as well as vocabularies and sentences and to exert their imagination. Ultimately, foreign students are able to develop interest and reduce burdens in learning Korean language and writing in Korean by utilizing picture books. This study is meaningful in that it has cleared doubts about the possibility of picture books successfully serving as a medium to take the Korean writing education forward and the appropriateness of its implementation based on the results discussed above.
