재한 중국 유학생의 이주현황과 특성에 관한 연구 : 한족, 조선족 유학생 비교를 중심으로

이 글에서는 재한 한족 유학생과 조선족 유학생의 한국유학 원인, 졸업 후 계획, 한국에서의 경제·사회생활 및 한국에 대한 인식을 비교하여 두 집단의 공통점과 차이점을 초보적인 수준에서 밝혀 보았다. 한국의 외국인 유학생 관련 정책, 중국의 개혁·개방 및 교육정책, 개인 차원의 자율성 등 요인을 통해 유학이 이루어졌다. 한국에 유학을 온 조선족 유학생의 경우에는 '한민족'이라는 요인이 복잡하게 영향을 미치고 있음을 볼 수 있다. 이 요인은 한족과 조선족 유학생의 유학동기에서부터 시작하여, 한국에서의 생활 전반에 영향을 미치는데 이 이유로 조선족은 한족보다 상대적으로 쉽게 한국사회에 적응할 수 있는 반면, 또 이런 이유로 한국으로부터 오는 차별 혹은 배제를 더 크게 느끼게 된다. 하지만 이런 차별이나 배제는 큰 틀에서 한국에 대한 인식을 결정할 때에는 유의미하게 나타난다고는 보기 힘들다. 오히려 한국으로부터 받는, 학업 및 일상생활에 필요한 '지원'에 대한 '감사'의 마음이 더 크게 작용을 한다고 볼 수 있다. 한족 유학생이나 조선족 유학생의 공통점이라면 현재의 유학은 학문적 수준에서 발전을 위한 유학만이 아니고, 세계화 속에서 개인경력의 제고 혹은 개인 가치의 실현을 위한 과정으로 간직된다. 이때 유학지에 대한 평가는 그 지역-한국-에서 생활하는 데 필요한 의식주가 어느 정도 보장이 되었는가에 달려있다. This paper examines migration and characteristics of Chinese foreign students in Korea. Similarities and differences between Han and Korean Chinese students were examined in regards to the reasons of study abroad, career plans after graduation, socio-economic lives in Korea, and perceptions of Korea. Factors of study abroad among Chinese students were found to be Korea's 'Foreign Students' policy, China's 'Open-door' policy and 'Education Policy', and increasing autonomy of individuals in Chinese society. For Korean Chinese students, 'Korea race' is a complicated issue. Because of this factor, they can easily adapt to Korea society than Han Chinese students, but they also perceive more discrimination and exclusion from Korean society. It is difficult to conclude that discrimination and exclusion are significant factors of perceptions of Korea. Rather, appreciation of supports they get in their study and everyday life are more significant factor of their perceptions. For Han and Korean Chinese students alike, study abroad is a means of not only academic development but career development in globalization era as well. Evaluations of the place of study abroad are heavily affected by how much their basic living conditions are secured.
