The contemporary South Korean landscape is characterised by a massive display of modern apartment buildings. They are omnipresent in their monotonous manifestation and represent the dream of the Korean population. Serial mass housing is a typology that has had a great diffusion all over the world, but how has modern housing developed in South Korea? To this end, what are the resulting local adaptations?. This paper retraces these key evolutional aspects. Methodologically, it draws on a scholarly literature review as well as on-site photographic surveys, developed in connection with an educational program at the Korea Tech University. The result is the analysis of both the urban and architectural transformation from the early modernisation period to the present condition of contemporary housing. A historical background introduces Korean traditional urban houses, to be used as a context to describe the contemporary modern city that has developed since the 1960s. The main emphasis is then placed on the urbanisation process that fully matured during the 1980s together with a focus on the mass housing typology as the main pivot in the urban transformation. Finally, the paper will draw a parallel between modern Western theories and Korean applications.
How can we Develop Students' Creativity? : Redesigning a Creativity Program based on Flow Theory

To produce highly creative students, engineering education must develop both problem recognition skills and the ability to solve problems independently. Chonnam National University has been developing a creativity program in which students identify and solve problems themselves. Initially, the primary focus was on solving problems, but this was unsuccessful at attracting the students' interest. To overcome this, we adopted Csikszentmihalyi's flow theory in our creativity program, much like the way this theory is used in computer games. As a result of adopting flow theory, we achieved our goal. Thus, in this paper, we will introduce Chonnam National University's creativity program (designed based on flow theory), which we will call the Self-Directed Creativity-Upgrade Program. Furthermore, we will discuss the impact of this program based on statistical analyses.

Analyzing test data of a vehicle for evaluating its emission performance is an essential process in automotive development field, yet it is intricate and tedious task. In addition, clear understanding and care are required when the analysis process is carried out. Computer software solutions significantly reduce the time and the effort for such analysis. Developing a computer routine to analyze the emission data in a vehicle test demands a complete understanding of the emissions analysis and its related details. In this paper, the principals to develop a LabVIEW analysis routine (VI) are introduced helping automotive engineers comprehend the emission analysis process of a vehicle test data and instruct them to develop similar routines for such analysis.

While North-South cooperation (NSC) continues to play a considerably dominant role in international development cooperation efforts, there is growing criticisms across the world as to the role and effectiveness of the NSC to support the developing countries to meet their development needs. As such, South-South cooperation (SSC) has become a subject of discussion in recent years across the world in international development and has increasingly become popular as an effective aid modality. However, there is unavailability of sufficient empirical studies about the efficacy of the SSC in the context of Bangladesh. The present paper attempts to examine two KOICA's projects to facilitate HRD in ICT in Bangladesh taking into consideration of Korea as a southern country. The study revealed that Korea's bilateral development cooperation efforts have been effective so far to fulfill their objectives. The findings of the study put forward that SSC may work in the form of technical cooperation to support the developing countries, provided that technical cooperation is demand-driven, and that there is sufficient level of absorptive capacity and supportive policy as well on the part of developing partner country to utilize external skills and technology.

KOREATECH has operated a Co-op program called 'Industry Professional Practice (IPP)' that allows students to work full-time in relevant industries for at least four months since 2012, and also developed a systematic performance evaluation model on the basis of Kirkpatrick's four-stage assessment model. This study aims to share KOREATECH's Levels 3 and 4 evaluation results which are clearly what practitioners and academic investigators of cooperative education want to know the most. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted for KOREATECH graduates and their superiors to examine influence of IPP experiences on employment and job performance. A total of 730 alumni who graduated within last 5 years participated in the survey, with 213 (29.2%) having IPP experiences, and 162 superiors rated their subordinates on seven performance criteria. The analysis results were mixed. On the one hand, employment rate of IPP participants was 89.7%, compared to 86.8% of alumni without field experiences. Participants of the IPP program were more satisfied with their salary and felt less unfair about their career and promotion opportunities than alumni without field experiences. On the other, superiors rated their subordinates without IPP experiences slightly more positively than IPP participants in terms of job performance. These contrasting results are judged to show strengths and weaknesses of the IPP program at the same time. The limitations of the study and future research directions are discussed at the last part.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of on-site training environments and goals on learning outcomes of trainees. For this purpose, the study analyzed survey data collected from 752 students who participated in KOREATECH's Industry Professional Practice (IPP) on-site training program from 2017 to 2018. The following summarizes some important findings from the study results: First, on examining whether the effect of job characteristics on the academic competencies differs according to the characteristics of the group, it was found that the factors that affect the whole group were job content, coaching, and welfare benefits, but the effect of job scope was statistically significant. Second, on examining whether the effect of job characteristics on job competencies differs according to the characteristics of the group, it was found that the factors that affect the whole group were job content, coaching, and job scope, but the effect of welfare was statistically significant. Analyzing by training goals, it was found that the major influencers were job content in the Recruitment-intended group; and job content, coaching and job scope in the Training-intended group. Based on the results, the implications of the study and follow-up studies are suggested.
Analysis of E-learning Acceptance in Vietnam-Korea Friendship Information Technology College

베트남-한국 우호 정보기술대학의 이러닝(E-Learning) 교육 품질 향상을 위하여, 잘 알려진 기술수용모델(TAM)에 기반한 이러닝 수용성 평가를 수행하였다. 총 158명의 강사 및 직원으로부터 설문지를 통하여 데이터를 확보했으며, 통계패키지 SPSS를 이용하여 분석하였다. 설문지 작성 시는 다양한 이전 연구 결과를 고려하였으며, 그에 따라 연구 가설 및 모델을 설정하였다. 그 결과, 이러닝 시스템의 성공모델을 세웠으며, 중요 요소를 파악했다. 아울러 강사 및 직원들이 이러닝 시스템의 혜택을 잘 알고 있으며 그들의 훈련 및 교육에 이러닝 방법을 적용하고자 준비가 되었음을 파악했다. To improve the e-learning education quality in VietHanIT College (Vietnam-Korea Friendship Information Technology College), e-learning acceptance was evaluated based on the well-known Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Quantitative data of the questionnaire survey were gathered from 158 lecturers and staffs of VietHanIT College and analyzed by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). While designing the questionnaire various previous studies were considered and hypotheses and models of the study were set up accordingly. As the results, success model of e-learning system was built up and important factors were identified. And most of lectures and staffs in VietHanIT College were aware of the benefits of e-learning system and they were ready to apply e-learning method for their training and teaching.
