Today our churches are confronted with problems that appear insufferable. Many members openly declare that the way things are their churches today there is a problem with pastors incompetently administering and ineffectively leading them or the members. Many pastors and church leaders fail to imbue their leadership with clear direction or adhere to the purpose of their ministry. Whatever visions the pastors have appear blurred and unclear to their congregation. According to Dr. Warren Bennis, the leaders can primarily draw others to themselves because of their strong focus on commitment. They are able to manage follower attention by bringing them to places where they have not been. A leader must be able to communicate what he or she wants- "leaders manage meaning by communicating their intentions which are their visions and makes these tangible to members that they may participate in achieving them." They also manage trust. The main determinant of trust is reliability and constancy. Leaders need to be focused and consistent. Finally, leaders manage self by knowing one's skills and employing them effectively and efficiently. In the early years of Korean churches in this country, the main focus of its leadership was simply church growth as seen in the addition of new members thus making recruitment the primary task. The inability of the Korean churches to reach out to the Filipinos outside their church has made them a virtual unknown in the local community. At present, there is a need to expand the ministry by making a difference in the local community where the church operates. New community-related activities such as social outreach, free medical and dental clinics, feeding project, and community organizing has to be encouraged. The Korean church also has to contribute to community development in a more organized and focused manner. If church leaders seriously devote themselves to the practice of the above-mentioned leadership qualities, then a more robust growth will be achieved. This research paper is anchored on three major objectives: 1) To determine the impact of the leadership qualities of the pastors on the members of the Korean Churches in Manila; 2) To assess the application of the Leadership exercise as theorized by Dr. Warren Bennis and discussed Christian Leadership Style and Jesus' leadership example -as presented in the Bible- in the operation and management of subject Korean churches in the Philippines, 3) To determine if the Korean Churches in Manila embrace social relevance and community involvement as part of their mission. The researcher drafted a survey questionnaire to seek specific answers aimed to achieve the objectives of the study. Survey questionnaires were distributed to the pastors, church leaders and members of the Korean Churches in Manila. Basic statistical analysis was applied to the survey data. The researcher's designed questionnaire was utilized. Leading theories on leadership discussed by Dr. Warren Bennis and considered in the book by Dr. Emmanuel Santos, Christian Leadership Style and Jesus' Leadership were focal to the drafting of the questions and identifying assessment areas. The locale of the study are the Manila Union Church and Manila New Life Church are located in the following address. These are two of the biggest Korean Churches in Manila and the Philippines having a combined membership of over six hundred members; two thirds of whom are adult. The concept which frames the study is the premise forwarded by leading theorists of management that: "good leaders give rise to great organizations." Since the church is just like any organization, the presence of a good pastor exercising good leadership will lead to the rise of great churches. Great churches are those that possesses the qualities of self confidence, self criticism, high ideals, clear vision and direction, instills members with great values, prepares and equips itself for organizational tasks, and is grounded on the community where it operates. Based on the findings of this study, it is concluded that the leadership exercise, leader's qualities and community involvement of the subject Korean churches is "Good." As one popular quotation goes: "Good is not good if it can be better". This is the task facing the leader and his people. To be better and to become a "Great " church the following courses of action or strategies are recommended: 1. The first recommendation is that there is a need for pastors to be more effective in exercising leadership abilities and qualities in the discharge of their pastoral work. 2. The second recommendation is that the pastors should abandon individual egos. Instead they must be servants like Jesus. 3. The third recommendation is that they need to obtain resource-equipment, knowledge, skill, and attitude as a planner. 4. The fourth recommendation is that the Korean church pastors have to improve their skills in pastoral counseling to meet people more effectively. 5. The fifth recommendation is that the pastors need to equip management abilities. 6. The sixth recommendation is that the pastors need to build community among those who work within given situation. 7. The seventh recommendation is that, in order for the Korean church to acquire relevance in the Philippine setting, the pastors need to foster extensive and substantial interaction with community. 8. The eighth recommendation is that the pastors should have long-term period in the assigned churches.
