The increasing need for liquid fertilizers along with the high production and treatment rate of swine manure pose a great concern in regard to the quality control and certification of fertilizers rapidly produced. In this study, 66 liquid manure samples were collected from national livestock manure co recycling centers. These 66 samples were tested and classified into three categories based on Liquid Fertilizer Germination Index (LFGI). In addition, the physiochemical parameters of manure specimens were tested, including pH, NaCl, total sulfur (TS), total nitrogen (TN), ammonium nitrogen (NH4-N), nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N), total phosphorus (TP), potassium (K), and electrical conductivity (EC). EC had a positive correlation with TN (0.879), NH4-N (0.816), K (0.693), and NaCl (0.625) with a significance of p < 0.01 but a negative correlation with LFGI (-0.719). This study demonstrated that EC could be used as an indicator in rapid testing methods for quality control to certify the maturity level of liquid manure fertilizers.

A study on Trend of Korean Forestry ODA Allocation
Yoon, J.-Y.,Park, G.-S.,Lee, S.-J.,Lee, S.-Y.,Ohga, S. FACULTY OF AGRIC PUBLICATIONS-KYUSHU UNIV 2014 Journal of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu Univ Vol.59 No.1
This study was to investigate trend of Korean Forestry ODA Allocation (KFOA). To achieve this research objective, firstly, the proportion of forestry ODA allocation by recipient continents was compared between Korea and OECD/DAC (The organization for Economic co-operation and Development's Development Assistance Committee) through OECD statistic data. Secondly, factors which may affect KFOA were analyzed. Distances, status of bilateral forestry cooperation, amount of forestry product import & export, corruption index, forest area, forest conversion rate, GDP per capital, and income level of each 24 recipient country were selected as possible factors. Bilateral forest cooperation turned out the most determinant factor among the others in this study. Ninety percent of Korean forestry ODA amount from 2006-2011 was allocated to 4 countries with bilateral forestry cooperation which were Mongolia, China, Indonesia, and Philippine. And 98%, 0.4% of Korean forestry ODA was given to Asia and Africa, respectively while OECD/DAC constantly increased forestry ODA for Africa by 26% during 1999-2011. Accordingly, it indicated that Korean forestry ODA was selective in targeting Asia and recipient countries with bilateral forestry cooperation.
Effects of Enterobacteria (Burkholderia sp.) on Development of Riptortus pedestris
Kil, Y.J.,Seo, M.J.,Kang, D.K.,Oh, S.N.,Cho, H.S.,Youn, Y.N.,Yasunaga-Aoki, C.,Yu, Y.M. FACULTY OF AGRIC PUBLICATIONS-KYUSHU UNIV 2014 Journal of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kyushu Univ Vol.59 No.1
In order to investigate the effects of intestinal bacteria on biological characteristics of Riptortus pedestris, these bacteria were isolated and identified from the midgut of field population individuals in 5 outdoor areas and laboratory population. As the result of identification of intestinal bacteria, a total of 8 strains including genus Burkholderia were isolated. Burkholderia sp. was found in 5 all field populations, but there was no Burkholderia sp. in gut of laboratory population. As a result of investigation of growth inhibition of 4 antibiotics (penicillin, ofloxacin, streptomycin, and tetracycline) against isolated 9 intestinal bacteria, ofloxacin was selected as the antibiotic for inhibition of all intestinal bacteria in this study. Selected antibiotic, ofloxacin was treated on soil, the soybean seed, and the host plant and then was provided to R. pedestris as prey. In a result of examination of developmental periods of each larval stage, body length, the number of eggs, the first oviposition time, and hatchability rate of R. pedestris after ofloxacin treatment, it was shown that Burkholderia sp. did not affect the development of the host insect but the first oviposition time was in approximately 60% compared with a control group. Thus, it was thought that the presence of Burkholderia sp. strain affected the number of eggs and the first oviposition time of R. pedestris.

To improve early embryonic development, many strategies have been studied in various species including bovine. The co-culture of embryos with somatic cells has been known to improve embryo quality during in vitro culture and pregnancy rates compared with conventional culture systems. The co-culture of embryos with oviductal cells which have been used for blastocyst expansion appears to shorten the time needed for synthesis of hCG, early embryo development, and hatching blastocysts. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the co-culture system with amniotic membrane stem cells (bAMS) improves bovine embryonic development competence. In order to investigate the influence of bAMS on early embryo development, bAMS originated from fetal bovine amniotic membranes were used as the feeder layer during in vitro maturation. The rates of matured oocytes, cleavage division, and blastocysts formation were increased (p<0.05) after co-culture with the bAMS compared to the control group. Moreover the rates of oocyte maturation and embryo development were significantly higher with using bAMS below 5 passages. In addition, the GSH level and the total cell number of blastocysts were significantly higher in co-culture group than in those of control group. Apoptotic cells were found more in the control group, and the expression of anti apoptosis related genes such as Mcl-1 and Bcl-2 were increased after co-culture with bAMS. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that co-culture with bAMS cells enhances oocyte maturation and embryo developmental competence by increasing GSH level and expression of anti apoptotic genes with reducing apoptotic cells in bovine embryos. We also found that it is more suitable to use bAMS below 5 passages.
