Restructuring Trade: Circulation of Medicinal Materials in East Asia in the 18th Century

        Wang Zi,Wu Qing 대한의사학회 2023 醫史學 Vol.32 No.1

In the 18th century, the trade of medicinal materials in East Asia showed a trend of rapid development, and by the second half of the 18th century, it became the largest commodity category in East Asia's international trade. The growth of medicinal material trade during this period was not a simple trade issue, but was closely related to a series of changes in economic fields, such as the market network, trade balance and production. The changes in the international trade environment from the 17th to the 19th centuries greatly increased the demand for medicinal materials. It also affected the production of medicinal materials. The medicinal material industries in East Asian countries were characterised by specialisation and marketisation, and provided the market with abundant and high-quality medicinal materials. In turn, the development of the medicinal material industry promoted international trade, making medicinal materials the largest traded commodity in East Asia. In the 18th century, the development of medicinal material trade promoted the recalibration of international trade, and changed the commodity structure of East Asian trade. It is a result of the transformation of international trade and economic relations, and an important participant in the development of East Asian economy. Trade of medicinal materials in the 18th century expanded the market network and formed a positive interaction between trade and production, and reshaped the international trade structure of East Asia.

      • A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Clinical Outcomes and Toxicity of Lobaplatin- Versus Cisplatin-Based Concurrent Chemotherapy Plus Radiotherapy and High-Dose-Rate Brachytherapy for FIGO Stage II and III Cervical Cancer

Wang, Ji-Quan,Wang, Tao,Shi, Fan,Yang, Yun-Yi,Su, Jin,Chai, Yan-Lan,Liu, Zi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.14

Background: We designed this randomized controlled trial (RCT) to assess whether lobaplatin-based concurrent chemotherapy might be superior to cisplatin-based concurrent chemotherapy for FIGO stage II and III cervical cancer in terms of efficacy and safety. Materials and Methods: This prospective, open-label RCT aims to enroll 180 patients with FIGO stage II and III cervical cancer, randomly allocated to one of the three treatment groups (cisplatin $15mg/m^2$, cisplatin $20mg/m^2$ and lobaplatin $35mg/m^2$), with 60 patients in each group. All patients will receive external beam irradiation (EBRT) and high-dose-rate intracavitary brachytherapy (HDR-ICBT). Patients in cisplatin $15mg/m^2$ and $20mg/m^2$ groups will be administered four cycles of $15mg/m^2$ or $20mg/m^2$ cisplatin intravenously once weekly from the second week to the fifth week during EBRT, while patients inthe lobaplatin $35mg/m^2$ group will be administered two cycles of $35mg/m^2$ lobaplatin intravenously in the second and fifth week respectively during pelvic EBRT. All participants will be followed up for at least 12 months. Complete remission rate and progression-free survival (PFS) will be the primary endpoints. Overall survival (OS), incidence of adverse events (AEs), and quality of life will be the secondary endpoints. Results: Between March 2013 and March 2014, a total of 61 patients with FIGO stage II and III cervical cancer were randomly assigned to cisplatin $15mg/m^2$ group (n=21), cisplatin $20mg/m^2$ group (n=21) and lobaplatin $35mg/m^2$ group (n=19). We conducted a preliminary analysis of the results. Similar rates of complete remission and grades 3-4 gastrointestinal reactions were observed for the three treatment groups (P=0.801 and 0.793, respectively). Grade 3-4 hematologic toxicity was more frequent in the lobaplatin group than the cisplatin group. Conclusions: This proposed study will be the first RCT to evaluate whether lobaplatin-based chemoraiotherapy will have beneficial effects, compared with cisplatin-based chemoradiotherapy, on complete remission rate, PFS, OS, AEs and quality of life for FIGO stage II and III cervical cancer.

Robust H∞ Control for Switched Nonlinear Port-controlled Hamiltonian Systems

        Zi-Ming Wang,Airong Wei,Xianfu Zhang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.8

In the paper, the robust H∞ control for switched nonlinear port-controlled Hamiltonian (SNPCH) systems with external disturbances is investigated via the multiple Lyapunov functions method. Under two cases that the SNPCH system is subject to actuator saturation (AS) and the SNPCH system is without AS, a design approach for the switching robust H∞ feedback controller is developed to attenuate the external disturbances. The sufficient conditions are established for H∞ control of the corresponding closed-loop systems based on Hamilton-Jacobi inequality techniques. Furthermore, via the Hamiltonian realization method, the obtained results are applied to solve the H∞ control for switched nonlinear affine systems with external disturbances. Finally, two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed H∞ control methods.

Robust State Observer Design for Dynamic Connection Relationships in Complex Dynamical Networks

        Zi-lin Gao,Yin-He Wang,Jiang Xiong,Li-li Zhang,Wen-li Wang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.2

The complex dynamical network with the time-varying links may be regarded to be composed of the twomutually coupled subsystems, which are called the nodes subsystem and the connection relationships subsystemrespectively. Designing the state observer for the nodes subsystem has been discussed in some existing researches byemploying the known connection relationships. However, the state observer design for the connection relationshipssubsystem is not shown in the existing researches. In practical applications, the connection relationships subsystempossesses also the state variables such as the relationship strength in social network, the size of web tension in theweb winding system. Therefore, designing the state observer for the connection relationships subsystem is also ofpractical significance. In this paper, a novel state observer is proposed for the connection relationships subsystemmodeled mathematically by the Riccati matrix differential equation. The observer utilizes the output measurementsof the connection relationships subsystem and the state of nodes subsystem. Compared with the state observerof nodes subsystems which employs the known connection relationships, the state observer for the connectionrelationships subsystem employs the state of nodes subsystem and is represented in form of the matrix differentialequation. By using Lyapunov stability theory, it is proved in this paper that the state observer for the connectionrelationships subsystem is asymptotical under certain mathematic conditions. Finally, the illustrative simulation isgiven to show the efficiency and validity of the proposed method in this paper.

      • Angelica Sinensis Polysaccharide Induces Erythroid Differentiation of Human Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia K562 Cells

        Wang, Lu,Jiang, Rong,Song, Shu-Dan,Hua, Zi-Sen,Wang, Jian-Wei,Wang, Ya-Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.9

Leukemia is a clonal disorder with blocked normal differentiation and cell death of hematopoietic progenitor cells. Traditional modalities with most used radiation and chemotherapy are nonspecific and toxic which cause adverse effects on normal cells. Differentiation inducing therapy forcing malignant cells to undergo terminal differentiation has been proven to be a promising strategy. However, there is still scarce of potent differentiation inducing agents. We show here that Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP), a major active component in Dong quai (Chinese Angelica sinensis), has potential differentiation inducing activity in human chronic erythro-megakaryoblastic leukemia K562 cells. MTT assays and flow cytometric analysis demonstrated that ASP inhibited K562 cell proliferation and arrested the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase. ASP also triggered K562 cells to undergo erythroid differentiaton as revealed by morphological changes, intensive benzidine staining and hemoglobin colorimetric reaction, as well as increased expression of glycophorin A (GPA) protein. ASP induced redistribution of STAT5 protein from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. Western blotting analysis further identified that ASP markedly sensitized K562 cells to exogenous erythropoietin (EPO) by activating EPO-induced JAK2/STAT5 tyrosine phosphorylation, thus augmenting the EPO-mediated JAK2/STAT5 signaling pathway. On the basis of these findings, we propose that ASP might be developed as a potential candidate for chronic myelogenous leukemia inducing differentiation treatment.

Optimal Zonotopic Kalman Filter-based State Estimation and Faultdiagnosis Algorithm for Linear Discrete-time System with Time Delay

        Zi-Xing Liu,Zi-Yun Wang,Yan Wang,Zhi-Cheng Ji 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.6

To manage the state estimation and fault-diagnosis problem of linear discrete uncertain systems with time delay, a state estimation and fault-diagnosis algorithm based on an improved zonotopic Kalman filter is proposed under the assumption that the process interference and measurement noise of the systems are unknown but bounded. First, zonotopes are used to contain the nonzero initial conditions of the system with time delay, and an optimal zonotopic Kalman filter is designed by using an iterative replacement method to determine the relationship between the current time and the delayed time. Subsequently, the optimal observer gain of the optimal zonotopic Kalman filter is designed by minimizing the size of the zonotopic sets to estimate the state sets. Next, the fault occurrence is detected by determining whether the true output value of the system is within the upper and lower bounds of the estimated output value, and the fault identification process is completed by the matching probability of the fault type. Finally, the fault-diagnosis of a numerical system, and the pitch system of a wind turbine are used as examples to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method for systems with time delay by analyzing the fault diagnosis results. A comparison with a normal fault-matching method indicates that the proposed fault-diagnosis algorithm is more rapid in fault identification.

Proteomic Profiles of Mouse Neuro N2a Cells Infected with Variant Virulence of Rabies Viruses

( Wang Xiao Hu ),( Shou Feng Zhang ),( Cheng Long Sun ),( Zi Guo Yuan ),( Xian Fu Wu ),( Dong Xia Wang ),( Zhuang Ding ),( Rong Liang Hu ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2011 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.21 No.4

We characterized the proteomes of murine N2a cells following infection with three rabies virus (RV) strains, characterized by distinct virulence phenotypes (i.e., virulent BD06, fixed CVS-11, and attenuated SRV9 strains), and identified 35 changes to protein expression using twodimensional gel electrophoresis in whole-cell lysates. The annotated functions of these proteins are involved in various cytoskeletal, signal transduction, stress response, and metabolic processes. Specifically, a-enolase, prx-4, vimentin, cytokine-induced apoptosis inhibitor 1 (CIAPIN1) and prx-6 were significantly up-regulated, whereas Trx like-1 and galectin-1 were down-regulated following infection of N2a cells with all three rabies virus strains. However, comparing expressions of all 35 proteins affected between BD06-, CVS-11-, and SRV9-infected cells, specific changes in expression were also observed. The up-regulation of vimentin, CIAPIN1, prx-4, and 14-3-3 θ/δ, and downregulation of NDPK-B and HSP-1 with CVS and SRV9 infection were ≥2 times greater than with BD06. Meanwhile, Zfp12 protein, splicing factor, and arginine/serine-rich 1 were unaltered in the cells infected with BD06 and CVS- 11, but were up-regulated in the group infected with SRV9. The proteomic alterations described here may suggest that these changes to protein expression correlate with the rabies virus`` adaptability and virulence in N2a cells, and hence provides new clues as to the response of N2a host cells to rabies virus infections, and may also aid in uncovering new pathways in these cells that are involved in rabies infections. Further characterization of the functions of the affected proteins may contribute to our understanding of the mechanisms of RV infection and pathogenesis.
