      • Unified SVPWM Strategy for Post-fault Three-level NPC Voltage Source Inverters

        Eight switch three-phase inverters (ESTPIs) are the reconfigured topologies of the three-level neutralpoint-clamped (NPC) inverter with a failure leg. This failure leads to different topologies of ESTPIs, which can be controlled by different space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) strategies. By analyzing the relationship of three SVPWM strategies for different ESTPIs, a unified coordinate transformation is proposed, which can make one of the three SVPWM strategies be a unified control strategy of ESTPIs. And the unified coordinate transformation is suited for two different SVPWM strategies for ESTPIs. Consequently, the unified strategy not only simplifies the control strategy, but also makes the fault tolerant control strategy more flexible. Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test results have shown the validity and feasibility of the proposed unified SVPWM strategies.

      • A LFO Suppression Approach for PET-TNCS Based on the Cascaded Nonlinear PI Controller

        The voltage low-frequency oscillation (LFO) occurs between the traction network and electric multiple units in high-speed railway system, which significantly deteriorates the stability and reliability of the railway transportation system. In view of this, a transient direct current control strategy based on the cascaded nonlinear PI controller is proposed for the single-phase power electronic transformer (PET)-based railway traction system. The control strategy is not only simple in design, but also can realize the self-adaptive adjustment of PI parameters through nonlinear functions, which enhances the robust performance of the system. The simulation and test results show that the LFO of power electronic transformer-traction network coupling system (PET-TNCS) occurs with the increase of the number of PETs accessed to the traction network under the traditional linear PI controller and the control strategy proposed in this paper can effectively suppress the LFO.

      • Type-3 PLL Based Speed Estimation Scheme for Sensorless Linear Induction Motor Drives

        The type-3 phase-locked loop (PLL) is a promising technique for synchronization in grid-connected application, which can offer the zero frequency/phase error when inputting ramp-change-frequency signal. Inspired from the idea of this technique, this paper proposes a new speed estimation scheme based on type-3 PLL for linear induction motor (LIM) speed-sensorless drive system. The basic contents about the type-3 PLL-based scheme are firstly presented. Since the harmonic components and amplitude mismatch lead to the performance degradation of the type-3 PLL-based scheme, some adjustments have been made to achieve the performance improvement of speed estimation. With the assistance of the small-signal model, the dynamic response of the type-3 PLL-based scheme is analyzed minutely. In addition, the comparison results with the conventional PLL-based scheme are included. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified through the experimental tests.

      • Life Estimation of DC-Link Capacitor in Multi-operating Traction Drive System

        The reliability of DC-link capacitor in the traction drive system is regarded as a major problem that should be resolved well. Based on this, this paper proposes a life estimation method of DC-link capacitor to realize the reliability evaluation of the traction drive system. Starting from the capacitor life model, the actual multi-operating data is converted into the calculation of traction load through simulation tests, and the capacitor voltage and current ripple signals are obtained. Fourier method by combining the sliding window grouping with the neural network are used to analyze the dynamics of the hot spot temperature, and is optimized by use the Newton"s law of cooling. Finally, the capacitor loss is analyzed through the experimental test results, and the safe operation of the system is considered, and the lifetime of the capacitor under multi-operating conditions is shown.
