      • Structure and Performance Characteristics of Saturated Iron-core Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

        Superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is a kind of short-circuit current limiting device for power grid. It's a new application of superconducting technology on power equipments. Saturated Iron-core Superconducting fault current limiter (SISFCL) is one of many types of SFCL. It takes the advantage that no quenching occurs in superconducting wires during fault current limiting process. The immediately reacting and fast recovering are also its main characteristics. The structure and function of SISFCL is similar to that of traditional transformer and current limiting reactor respectively. Based on mature technologies on design and manufacture of iron core and windings of transformers, SISFCL could be made at the same voltage level as traditional transformers. But there are also significant differences between them. SISFCL will offer an effective solution to limit short-circuit current in future HV or EHV power systems because of its peculiar structures and properties. In this paper, we introduce the structure and characteristics of the SISFCL developed by Innopower. It may help readers to understand SISFCL and its enormous application value for power grids.

        Fermented cottonseed meal improves production performance and reduces fat deposition in broiler chickens

        Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of fermented cottonseed meal (FCSM) on growth performance, carcass traits, and fat deposition in white-feather broiler chickens. Methods: A total of 480 male one-day-old white-feather broiler chickens were selected randomly and divided into four groups with six replicates of 20 chickens in each. The experimental chickens were fed diets including 3%, 6%, or 9% FCSM fermented by Candida tropicalis until 42 days old. In the experiment, the chickens of the control group were fed soybean meal. Results: FCSM supplementation linearly decreased the feed conversion ratio from d 15 to 21 and d 36 to 42, respectively (p<0.05). The percentage of carcass and semi-eviscerate increased in response to dietary FCSM supplementation at d 21 (p<0.05). The percentage of eviscerated and semi-eviscerate of 3FCSM was higher than that in other groups at d 35 (p<0.05). At the age of 42 d, the percentage of carcass increased in a quadratic way among increasing FCSM in diets (p<0.05). The subcutaneous fat thickness linearly decreased with the increasing levels of FCSM at d 21 (p<0.05). Gompertz and Logistic functions provided a better fit on abdominal fat and subcutaneous fat, respectively. The best fitted equation predicted that the maximum growth rate of abdominal fat weight and subcutaneous fat thickness occurred at d 28. FCSM had no significant effects on the shape of growth curve of abdominal fat weight and subcutaneous fat thickness, but reduced the height of the curve. Birds receiving the 6FCSM diet for 21 d had smaller adipocyte surface and lower serum glucose as well as triglyceride concentration. Conclusion: FCSM is beneficial for broiler chickens as it positively affects their growth and carcass in addition to altering their fat deposition.       • A Location Context Awareness Personalized Mobile Service Prediction Model and it's Algorithm : Design and Implementation

        With the expansion of mobile Internet, location-based services have become a hot spot in Internet industry. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of the location-based services discovery, researchers in web services recommendation area are still busy looking for method. In this paper, it proposes a LCAMSP model (Location Context Awareness Mobile Service Prediction, LCAMSP) under mobile Internet environment, aims to meet the exact personal requirements of users’ current location and preference. Then, the similar users’ grouping is also a important thread to predict the continuous movement for mobile users. Because each user has own preference, a dynamic calculation function for the weight of each attribute is discussed in this paper. Finally, taking the hotel reservation service as an example, a verification algorithm will be applied to measure the performance of LCAMSP method. With the premise of increasing limited time, the accuracy of LCAMSP algorithm is significantly improved under the mobile service environment.

      • Study on ANT-based Wireless Network for Wearable Medical Monitoring

        Such technical features of ANT as protocol stack structure, data frame format and channel configuration are first introduced in the paper, and then targeted at the groups that need real-time medical monitoring, an ANT protocol-based wireless network medical monitoring system is established to realize real-time acquisition of corresponding physiological data. This system adopts the chip NRF24AP2 compatible with ANT protocol as the core component of wireless network nodes of the medical monitoring system to conduct design of software and hardware. It is shown through power consumption analysis and communication reliability testing of the wireless network that this network features low power consumption under the premise of operating reliability, applicable to various applications giving priority to low power consumption.

        Soil moisture retrieval in farmland using C-band SAR and optical data

        Soil moisture retrieval in vegetation-covered area with space borne synthetic aperture radar is a challenging process due to the impact of vegetation on the multiple scattering of electromagnetic wave. In this paper, a semi-empirical method is proposed to estimate farmland soil moisture by active microwave remote sensing and optical remote sensing. By integrating the vegetation water content estimated from optical data and thermal infrared data into a coupling model based on a water–cloud model, the influence of vegetation on microwave backscattering coefficient was eliminated and thus soil moisture in vegetation-covered area was accurately retrieved. The experiment of soil moisture retrieval was carried out using Radarsat-2 and Landsat 8 datasets in western Great Khingan Mountains, Inner Mongolia, China. The research showed that the accuracy of the coupling model is high and the R2 is up to 0.69 using HH polarization. Moreover, the effects of crop types on soil moisture retrieval, particularly barley, could also be distinguished using the coupling model.

        Adiponectin induced AMP-activated protein kinase impairment mediates insulin resistance in Bama mini-pig fed high-fat and high-sucrose diet

        Objective: Adipose tissue is no longer considered as an inert storage organ for lipid, but instead is thought to play an active role in regulating insulin effects via secretion adipokines. However, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the effects of adipokines. In this study, we investigated the role of adipokines in glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity in obese Bama mini-pigs. Methods: An obesity model was established in Bama mini-pigs, by feeding with high-fat and high-sucrose diet for 30 weeks. Plasma glucose and blood biochemistry levels were measured, and intravenous glucose tolerance test was performed. Adipokines, including adiponectin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), resistin and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and glucose-induced insulin secretion were also examined by radioimmunoassay. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation in skeletal muscle, which is a useful insulin resistance marker, was examined by immunoblotting. Additionally, associations of AMPK phosphorylation with plasma adipokines and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index were assessed by Pearce's correlation analysis. Results: Obese pigs showed hyperglycemia, high triglycerides, and insulin resistance. Adiponectin levels were significantly decreased (p<0.05) and IL-6 amounts dramatically increased (p<0.05) in obese pigs both in serum and adipose tissue, corroborating data from obese mice and humans. However, circulating resistin and TNF-α showed no difference, while the values of TNF-α in adipose tissue were significantly higher in obese pigs, also in agreement with data from obese humans but not rodent models. Moreover, strong associations of skeletal muscle AMPK phosphorylation with plasma adiponectin and HOMA-IR index were obtained. Conclusion: AMPK impairment induced by adiponectin decrease mediates insulin resistance in high-fat and high-sucrose diet induction. In addition, Bama mini-pig has the possibility of a conformable model for human metabolic diseases.

        Hepatitis B Virus DNA Polymerase Displays an Anti-Apoptotic Effect by Interacting with Elongation Factor-1 Alpha-2 in Hepatoma Cells

        Hepatitis B virus (HBV) genome P-encoded protein HBV DNA polymerase (Pol) has long been known as a reverse transcriptase during HBV replication. In this study, we investigated the impact of HBV Pol on host cellular processes, mainly apoptosis, and the underlying mechanisms. We showed a marked reduction in apoptotic rates in the HBV Pol-expressed HepG2 cells compared to controls. Moreover, a series of assays, i.e., yeast two-hybrid, GST pull-down, co-immunoprecipitation, and confocal laser scanning microscopy, identified the host factor eEF1A2 to be associated with HBV Pol. Furthermore, knockdown of eEF1A2 gene by siRNA abrogated the HBV Pol-mediated anti-apoptotic effect with apoptosis induced by endoplasmatic reticulum (ER) stress-inducer thapsigargin (TG), thus suggesting that the host factor eEF1A2 is essential for HBV Pol’s anti-apoptosis properties. Our findings have revealed a novel role for HBV Pol in its modulation of apoptosis through integrating with eEF1A2.

      • Online Leakage Detection Test of High-pressure Heater at the Power Plant

        Variations of acoustic emission signals of leakage of the heater versus inner pressure, leakage aperture, transmission distance and liquid state in the outer pipeline were studied through experiment and analysis. By changing one of the four factors each time, leakage failure reasons were concluded. Research results would be applied into leakage detection of heater.

      • Simulation Experiment on Acoustic Emission of Pipeline Leakage

        With the heater pipeline leakage experiment conducted on the experiment table, inner pipeline leakage of heater was studied through the leakage failure detection system. The frequency distribution and the amplitude of acoustic emission signals of leakage versus internal pressure were analyzed. Variations of signals versus leakage aperture and dissemination distance were summarized. According to the mapping relationship between the leaking spot and acoustic emission signals, and between the leakage flow and acoustic emission signals, reasons of leakage failure were concluded. The results would be applied to heater leakage failure detection. And an on-the-spot detection in the power plant was conducted to test the heater under pressure in order to verify the results.

        In this paper, two classes of functions, involving a parameter and the classical Euler gamma function, and two functions, involving the classical Euler gamma function, are verified to be logarithmically completely monotonic in $(-\frac{1}{2},\infty)$ or $(0,\infty)$; some inequalities involving the classical Euler gamma function are deduced and compared with those originating from certain problems of traffic flow, due to J. Wendel and A. Laforgia, and relating to the well known Stirling's formula.
