This study investigated the changes in physicochemical characteristics of adzuki bean (Vigna angularis var. nipponensis) tea depending on the variety and roasting times, for the development of functional foods. The levels of total polyphenol, flavonoids, and tannin contents were 12.72 ㎎ gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g, 3.01 ㎎ catechin equivalent (CE)/g, and 3.56 ㎎ tannic acid equivalent (TAE)/g, respectively, for the Jeolgangsung-ipat sample roasted for 16 min. The highest DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity was 7.81 ㎎ Trolox equivalent (TE)/g in Bulgeun-ipat sample that was roasted for 14 min. The highest total polyphenol content in the hot water-leached liqueur of adzuki bean tea was 26.55 μg GAE/100 mL in Yungum-pat that was roasted for 12 min. The total flavonoids and tannin contents of Whin-ipat and Jeolgangsung-ipat roasted for 10 min were 15.10 μg CE/100 mL and 14.60 μg TAE/100 mL, respectively. The highest DPPH and ABTS (2,2’-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activities of hot water-leached liqueur of adzuki bean tea were 488.72 and 728.25 ㎎ TE/100 mL, respectively, in Yungumpat roasted that was for 12 min. The results of this study show that roasted adzuki bean tea has notable antioxidant activity and is considered to have significant health benefits.

Economic Value Added(EVA) has been used as a new measure of firm's performances. This paper estimates firm's EVA, and then analyses the relationships between EVA and returns of stock through regression methods. Most estimated companies' EVAs show negative values, which implies that most Korean companies have emphasized on the external growth rather than the efficient operations. The regression results show that the relationships between EVA and returns of stock are significant partially.
Staphylococcus epidermidis에 의한 자연판막 심내막염 1례

Although Staphylococcus epidermidis is a frequent cause of prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE), it is regarded as a rare pathogen of native valve endocarditis (NVE). We report a case of NVE caused by methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis in a 62-year-old man. The bacterium was isolated from blood and tissue culture. The patient underwent valve replacement due to heart failure and was successfully treated by surgery and vancomycin administration for 7 weeks.
신고리 지역 기상관측을 통한 계절별 대기안정도 특성분석

In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of atmospheric stability to investigate local environment change at an atomic power plant in Gori region. The used data was obtained from field observation of major meteorological variables such as wind direction and speed, air temperature, relative humidity, and solar radiation using AWS (Automatic Weather System) in Gori region from February to September in 2003. As a result, when strong northerly winds (more than 4~6 m/s) and weak northwesterly winds (2~3m/s) blow, atmospheric stability was neutral and stable from winter to spring, respectively. Atmospheric stability (neutral) in summer was similar to that in two other seasons (winter and spring), but it was stable for weak southwesterly winds (2~3 m/s). Finally, atmospheric stability was neutral for strong winds (over 4~6 m/s) in fall without respect to wind direction, while that was stable for very weak winds (less than 2 m/s).

인공 양식장에서 많은 양으로 발생되는 굴껍질의 화학적 및 열적 특성을 이용하여 공업용 소재의 원료로 활용함으로서 공해 문제를 해소하는 한 방편을 제공함과 동시에 현재보다 부가가치가 큰 활용방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 굴껍질은 순도가 높은 CaCO₃성분이 방해석(calcite) 결정구조를 하고 있어 석회석과 매우 유사하나 초미립 결정으로 된 조밀부분과 다공성부분이 적층되어 있어 탈탄산온도가 더 낮고 900℃로 가열할 때 수화성이 최대를 나타내었다. 굴껍질의 하소분말을 CaO원으로 사용하여 실리카와 수열반응시킬 때 섬유상의 토버모라이트가 매우 용이하게 합성되었고 이들은 광물학적 및 열적 특성이 석회성을 원료로 하여 합성한 것과 다르지 않았으며 원료의 하소조건이 합성광물의 특성에 미치는 영향도 매우 적었다. Waste oyster shell from a farm, one of the massive pollutant, was characterized and utilized in synthesis of calcium silicate hydrates as a raw marerial. Oyster shells were revealed to be composed mainly of CaCO₃of calcite having analogy to limestone. But the porous sheet structure composed of fine particles of calcite caused decarbonation to complete at lower temperature than that of limestone. Under hydrothermal condition, tobermorite, one of important calcium silicate hydrates, with typical thermal and mineralogical properties was easily synthesized from the mixture of calcined oyster shell and silica. The properties of synthesizied tobermorite seldom affected sensitively by the small changes in calcination temperature although the maximum heat of hydration was obtained from the powder calcined at 900℃.

본 연구의 목적은 ANSI N13. 11-1983의 시험기준에서 제시한 개인선량계의 선량평가 시험범주를 모두 만족시킬 수 있는 선량평가 알고리즘을 개발하는데 있다. 알고리즘 개발 대상 개인선량계로는 Teledyne Isotopes사의 PB-3 열형광선량계로 하였다. 개발된 알고리즘에 대한 미국 Atlan-Tech사와의 2차례의 검증결과, 본 알고리즘은 ANSI N-13. 11-1983의 선량평가 범주를 모두 만족시키는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study is to develop an algorithm of TLD dose evaluation to meet all requirements stated in ANSI N13. 11-1983. It made the PB-3 TLD of Teledyne Isotopes an object of the development. Personal dosimetry performance testings of the development algorithm have been performed twice through the Atlan-Tech, INC. in accordance with the criteria of testing described in ANSI N13. 11-1983. As a result, it is assured that the developed algorithm has complied with all requirements stated in ANSI N13-1983.
슬래그계 카올린모르타르의 에트링가이트 생성과 물성에 미치는 무수석고의 영향

고로슬래그를 주성분으로 하는 카올린모르타르용 결합재에 에트링가이트계 자극제로서 무수석고를 사용할 때 그 첨가량이 에트링가이트의 생성과 모르타르의 초기 물성에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 무수석고의 첨가는 에트링가이트와 생성과 모르타르의 초기강도 발현에 매우 효과적이었으나 적정량 이상 첨가하면 에트링가이트의 성장이 미약하고 미반응 CaSO4가 잔존하여 다시 강도가 하락하였다. The effects of ettringite-forming anhydrite on the early properties of the slag-based kaolin mortars were studied. The addition of anhydrite, within certain amounts, was very effective for the formation of ettringite. hydraulic reactivity and the early strength of the mortars. The strength of the mortar, however, was decreased by the excessive anhydrite which is remaining without reaction and suppressing the growth of the ettringite crystals.
