The enhanced phosphorescence from Alq3 fluorescent materials by phosphor sensitization
Tsuboi, T.,Kwon, J.H.,Liu, X.,Huang, W. Elsevier Sequoia 2014 Journal of photochemistry and photobiology Chemist Vol.291 No.-
The green emission accompanied with intense red phosphorescence is observed from the tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3) in the heavily doped tris(2-phenylpyridine) iridium [Ir(ppy)3] films. This photoluminescence (PL) emission mechanism is studied by the PL excitation (PLE) spectra for the red and green emissions. From the PLE spectrum for the red emission, the energy transfer from Ir(ppy)3 to Alq3 is confirmed. The increase of the green emission with increasing temperature from 12K is explained by the endothermic back Forster energy transfer from the triplet T1 state of Ir(ppy)3 to the singlet S1 state of Alq3. It is suggested that this back transfer is partially responsible for the decrease of the red emission intensity corresponding to the increase of the green emission. Unlike the Forster energy transfer, the Dexter energy transfer from the T1 state of Ir(ppy)3 to the T1 state of Alq3 is highly efficient. The explanation for this process is presented here. The green emission is not attributed to Ir(ppy)3 but to Alq3, because not only the green emission profile but also the red emission profile is quite similar to the δ-phase polycrystalline Alq3. From these results, it is concluded that the Alq3 forms a δ-phase polycrystalline state to accept the phosphor sensitization. The unusual enhancement of the red phosphorescence from the Alq3 is explained by the mixing of the T1 state of Ir(ppy)3 with the T1 state of Alq3 under the Dexter energy transfer of short range process, by taking into account that the T1 state of Ir(ppy)3 contains the singlet state by the strong spin-orbit coupling.
A Proposal for Generating Good Assembly Sequences by Tournament Tree
Tsuboi, Kenji,Matsumoto, Toshiyuki,Shinoda, Shinji,Niwa, Akira Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers 2011 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.10 No.2
In seeking further efficiency in production preparation, it is common to examine assembly sequences using digital manufacturing. The assembly sequences affect the product evaluation, so it is necessary to test several assembly sequences before actual production. However, because selection and testing of assembly sequences depends on the operator's personal experience and intuition, only a small number of assembly sequences are actually tested. Nevertheless, there is a systematic method for generating assembly sequences using a contact-related figure. However, the larger the number of parts, the larger the number of assembly sequences geometric becomes. The purpose of this study is to establish a systematic method of generating efficient assembly sequences regardless of the number of parts. To generate such assembly sequences selectively, a "Tournament Tree," which shows the structure of an assembly sequence, is formulated. Applying the method to assembly sequences of a water valve, good assembly sequences with the same structure as the Tournament Tree are identified. The structure of such a Tournament Tree tends to have fewer steps than the others. As a test, the structure is then applied for a drum cartridge with 38 parts. In all the assembly sequences generated from the contact-related figures, the best assembly sequence is generated by using the Tournament Tree.
Environmental-Genetic Interactions in the Pathogenesis of Parkinson’s Disease
Yoshio Tsuboi 한국뇌신경과학회 2012 Experimental Neurobiology Vol.21 No.3
To date, numerous case-control studies have shown the complexity of the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease (PD). In terms of genetic factors, several susceptibility genes are known to contribute to the development of PD, including α-synuclein (SNCA), leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), and glucocerebrosidase (GBA). In addition, numerous recent epidemiological studies have shown that several environmental factors are either risk factors for PD or protective factors against PD. Risk factors identified include herbicides and pesticides (e.g., paraquat, rotenone, and maneb), metals (e.g., manganese and lead), head trauma, and well water. In contrast, smoking and coffee/caffeine consumption are known to be protective against PD. A recent finding in this field is that environmental-genetic interactions contribute more to the pathogenesis of PD than do genetic factors or environmental factors alone. In this review, I will discuss how these interactions promote the development of PD.
Indoor Human Positioning Tracking Technique to Support High-Quality Life
Toshinori Tsuboi,Takehiro Shiraishi,Nobuyoshi Komuro 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is expected to assist the activities of senior persons for raising their quality of life. This paper proposes an indoor human position tracking technique using UHF-band RFID(radio frequency identification). Seniors are liable to forget where they put items, such as a wallet or watch in the house. They could find the lost item if they could recall their movement history. The proposed technique is well satisfies this goal. This paper proposes a new simple positioning technique based on RFID. Simulations and experiments are conducted to confirm the basic performance of the proposed positioning algorithm.
