6-shogaol a Active Component from Ginger Inhibits Cell Proliferation and Induces Apoptosis through Inhibition of STAT-3 Translocation in Ovarian Cancer Cell Lines (A2780)

        Ting Liang,Ying He,Yuhua Chang,Xiantong Liu 한국생물공학회 2019 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.24 No.3

Ovarian cancer is predominant form of malignant which occupies 70 % cancer in women worldwide. Taxals, anthrocyclins and platinum based drugs are used as chemotherapeutic for treatment of ovarian cancer. These drugs were limited by drug resistance and it produces several toxicity. Therefore, we used natural drug which inhibits the cancer cell growth by modulating specific molecular mechanisms. This study, we evaluated the 6shogaol a active component from ginger inhibits cell proliferation by modulation of JAK/STAT-3 signalling in ovarian cancer cell lines (A2780). In this study, we found that 6-shogaol induces cytotoxicity, ROS production and apoptosis in A2780 cell lines by time depending manner. Moreover, signal transducer and activating transcription-3 (STAT-3) has been consider as novel transcriptional factor which regulates apoptosis, cell proliferation and angiogensis. Inhibition of STAT-3 transcription considered as novel strategy to inhibiting ovarian cell growth. In this study, we found that 6-shogaol inhibits STAT-3 translocation there by inhibits the over expression of PCNA, cyclin-D1, Bcl-2 and decreased expression of Bax, caspase-9 and 3 in A2780 cell lines. This results concluded that 6-shogaol inhibits ovarian cell growth and induces apoptosis through inhibits the translocation STAT-3.

Great Achievements on Studying Chinese Materia Medica

        Tingliang Jiang 한국생약학회 1989 생약학회지 Vol.20 No.2

Since 1949, researches on Chinese Materia Medica (CMM) have obtained great achievements in our country. Mere than 5,000 kinds of CMM and herb medicines have been identified, The resoureces of over 800 kinds of commonly used medicinal plants and animals, and about 900 items of complicated crude drugs have been clarified. Systematized work on the different processing technique for CMM in the past dynasties all over the country, and the experiences of more than 500 species of CMM have been accomplished. About 150 kinds of CMM have been studied chemically and pharmacologically. More than 500 active principles were isolated. Some of them showed remarkable therapeutic effects in clinical and experimental studies. More than 150 new drugs have been developed from those ingredients or it derivatives. There were more than 200 prescriptions studied in recent 10 years. Among them about 1/4 were classical recipes. Research works involved pharmacodynamics, mechanisms and guidelines for the composition of prescriptions. The study has also promoted the development of the Chinese patent medicines. At present, several thousant items of patent medicines are available on the market. Some progress has been made on the study of basic theory in CMM.

      • Effects of Naoxintong-containing serum on NO and CGRP in rat cerebral microvascular endothelial cells

        Lanfang, Li,Canghai, Li,Haixia, Dang,Nan, Jiang,Jianyou, Guo,Shuying, Guo,Hairu, Huo,Tingliang, Jiang Kyung Hee Oriental Medicine Research Center 2005 Oriental pharmacy and experimental medicine Vol.5 No.3

Effects of Naoxintong (NXT, a formula of Chinese Materia Medica)-containing serum on Nitrogen monoxide (NO) and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) in rat cerebral microvascular endothelial cells (rCMEC) was investigated, rCMEC was injured in vitro by incubating for 4 hours at 100% NO in a hypoxia chamber. The results indicated that NXT could antagonize the reduction of NO and CGRP secreted by rCMEC during hypoxia, the effect of which was dose-dependent. After treated with NXT-containing serum at dosage of 5.0 - 30 and 50 -1.1 g/kg/U respectively, the amount of NO and CGRP secreted by rCMEC were remarkably increased during hypoxia in vitro.
