Many theories of color harmony have suggested that colors having similar visual attributes such as hue, chroma or tone would appear harmonious. We have investigated on visual impression of a set of colors characterized by colored lights[1][2]. Colors of surfaces under a colored light should change in similar ways. Thus, we could produce a set of colors that have some common visual characteristics of color given by the colored light. We refer this method as a colored light characterization method. Our previous studies showed that color arrangements produced by the colored light characterization method would appear harmonious and give some specific visual impressions depending on the colored lights. Those studies were carried out using an experimental set-up installed actual colored light lamps. In this study we have prepared methods producing any colors characterized by a colored light on a computer display and systematically investigated the effects of the colored light characterization method on visual impression of color arrangements. The result indicated that color arrangements characterized by the chromatic colored light were evaluated as more harmonious than those by the white light. It was also showed that the color arrangements gave different visual impressions depending on the colored lights.
