To achieve a high performance in direct vector control of induction motor, it is essential to correct estimation of rotor flux The accuracy of flux observers for induction machines inherently depends on parameter sensitivity This paper presents an analysis method for conventional flux observers using Parameter Sensitivity The Parameter sensitivity is defined as the ratio of the percentage change in the system transfer function to the percentage change of the parameter variation We define the ratio between real flux and estimated flux as the transfer function, and analyzed a parameter sensitivity of this transfer function by simulation.<br/>

Since 1960s. con tamer shipping volume has increased dramatically and continuous on a trend of rapid growth, and so the number of containers handled at the port increases In order to improve yard crane operating efficiency, the precise position measurement of the yard crane is important. This paper describes the method to measure the absolute position of yard crane using the output pulse of an encoder and infrared sensors. The crane position is calculated by counting the output pulse of an incremental encoder, which is mounted on the wheel in the crane By the way, the wheel slippage on rail may cause some errors in crane position information obtained from encoder pulses, and the errors in the crane position information are compensated with infrared sensors. The performance of proposed method is verified on experimental results with the simulator of yard crane, the size of which is about 1/10 with the real crane.
3-Phase Voltage Disturbance Generator for the Performance Test of A Flywheel Energy Storage UPS

In this paper a novel 3-phase voltage disturbance generator is described. Voltage sag, swell, outage, and unbalance can be provided by the proposed scheme. The main devices of the generator are SCR thyristors, sliding type autotransformers, and transformers, which makes the generator have good features of high reliability, high efficiency, and cost - effective system. Thus the generator can be used for the performance test of the custom power devices including UPS. The operating principle and the characteristics of the proposed scheme are analyzed and the simulation results show the usefulness of the generator.

This paper describes a control method to minimize the filter capacitor of a AC/DC converter for LED driver. The rectified secondary voltage of the transformer has 120㎐ ripple unlike the conventional converter for the LED drive. Therefore, the filter capacitor can be minimized and this provides reduced cost, low switching loss, and long life of the converter.

This Paper describes a new 3 phase Sag-Swell generator for the test of custom power devices such as UPS, DVR, DSTATCOM, SSTS, etc. The proposed scheme has good features of simple structure, high reliability, wide range of sag and swell variation. It can also generate voltage outage. The control scheme for the generation is simple. The operation principle of the proposed scheme is described and verified through simulations.

This paper deals with the operation of a flywheel energy storage UPS. The ups has good features such as long life-time, improved efficiency, no environment problems, reduced size and space, and low maintenance cost compared with the conventional UPS using battery. The operating principle of the UPS is analysed in each mode including charging, voltage compensation, discharging, and voltage unbalance compensation. Especially, the tracking characteristic of the disturbed phase of the source voltage after outage is analysed. The usefulness of the operation is proved through simulations.

This paper deals with a novel 3-phase power quality disturbance generator. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance that of custom power devices. Voltage sag, swell, outage unbalance and phase shift are provided by the generator. The control scheme for the disturbance generation is simple, and hardware setup is cost effective compared with conventional scheme. The operating principle of the generator is described and the usefulness verified through simulation with 10㎸A power rating.

This paper deals with the SCR thyristor switching characteristics of a 3-phase voltage disturbance generator. The series transformers of the generator require bypass SCR thyristors to provide the source voltage to the output terminal in normal operating mode. The SCR thyristor switching characteristics is quite different according to the connection point to the series transformer. The switching characteristics is analysed and verified through simulation results.
